Magna Arbor (Mag-Nah Are-Bore)

Description:

The headquarters of the Celestial Lumanine. The castle is set up on a rocky hill, separated from the mainland on its own island. Adjacent to it is a hangar for aircraft, with a small runway that runs down the hill. At the tip of the island, closest to the mainland, is a sizable dock, with a ship or two anchored in. The terrain is similar to that of Iceland, but miniature, with tons of grass and rocky ground. Two much smaller islands, called the Twin Sisters, are a short distance from the main island, called Praetorium. On the bigger of the Twin Sisters, is the cemetery for fallen soldiers. It's set on the island as a way to 'discourage' members of the Celestial Lumanine from passing on, and in the event, the dead get raised from their graves they cannot attack the castle, as they are being marooned on the island. On the smaller of the two isles, is a massive flower field of Golden Rayed Lilies, planted there by General Tasker S. Sherman, with a small memorial monolith placed there.

Main-Areas:

Praetorium Docks:
A series of Cantilever docks made of sturdy Garapa wood. There's always at least a ship or two anchored at the docks. Crates and barrels can often be seen piled on the wood. A small structure near the entrance to the dock is placed with two guards stationed inside at all times. Next to it, is a watchtower, with two snipers stationed round the clock. From the dock, is a dirt road that leads up to the other structures. A small flight of stairs on the side leads to a smaller and lower dock, used for boats to sail across the channel to the mainland or the other islands.
Hangar:
The hangar's ceiling is made of curved steel plates, with a couple of windows spaced along its length. The steel sheets extend all the way down to the wall, made of carved stone, which extends about eight feet above the paved ground. The large doors are made of thick steel, squeaking open on rusty hinges to lock the hangar or open to give access. Numerous amounts of aircraft are stored within the hangar, though many spots are empty due to most aircraft being used in missions constantly. Next to the hangar is a level area that drops off via a cliff into the sea, serving as additional space for aircraft shoulder the hangar be full. The grass here is worn down to the dirt due to the heavy traffic it experiences. It's rumored that caverns and cathedrals dwell beneath the hangar...
Magna Arbor Castle:
Exterior: The main castle on the island. Made of sturdy Diabase rock, from the walls, floors, ceilings, etc. A front-wall (with battlements, a walkway, and a primary gate), encloses a front courtyard, roughly the size of an acre. Behind the courtyard is the main gate, made of the solid Hekrum Wood, as is the primary gate. The gate is set into the actual castle, square in shape, with a tower at each corner. (the south-east tower being the tallest). On the west side of the castle, contained by another wall, is a back courtyard. In the center, the castle rises up above the rest of the castle, rising almost as tall as the outside towers. Its roof is conical, with a flag being waved from a pole sticking out the center. Around the castle, the terrain drops down slightly in 5-foot cliffs, giving it a slightly more defensive position, with the only level-way up being the dirt road that leads to the primary gate to the south.   Interior: The hallways are bare stone, sometimes with a carpeted pathway, with light flooding in from windows, balistraria, or lit torches. The doors are also made of Hekrum Wood, some of them feature a small window near the top made of ballistic glass. Signs outside most doors, announce what areas the doors lead to. Many people can be seen hurrying to-and-fro within the hallways at the busiest times. Other times, the hallways will be empty and eerie.   Sub-Areas:
Dorms: The men and women get their own dorms. The men's dorms is located next to William's tower (the tallest of the four), and is mainly colored navy blue and white. The women's dorms are located on the other side of the castle, adjacent to the back courtyard, with the color theme being pine green and white. Four people are assigned to a dorm room, with two people per bunk. Each person gets their own chest-locker to store personal items. Men and women are not allowed within the others dorms.   William Anderson's Tower:
Located in the tallest of the towers, being the south-east corner of the castle. Entrance to it is through a heavy wooden door, up a long spiraling staircase, and past another heavy wooden door. Inside is a spacious room with four windows pointing each direction, though the only one not covered with curtains is the eastern window. A single lantern hangs from wooden beams that support the stone roof. A bed is at one end of the circular room, with a desk and chair being next to the window, often carried with various documents, maps, and books. A dressed sits opposite the desk in the room, full of clothes, and a picture of William Anderson and his family atop it. Only William Anderson is allowed in the tower unless an individual is invited by him.     Kitchen and Dining Area:
A large, spacious room, furnished with many wooden tables and chairs. Through a swinging door at one end of the room, leads to the kitchen, where many stoves, ovens, grills, fridges, and so on can be found. Food is prepared here and once ready, placed into self serving trays in lunch counters that separate the kitchen from the dining area. Simple lantern chandeliers hang from the ceiling, illuminating the simple stone walls, floor, and ceiling. Leading into the dining area from the hallways is two, light-weight swinging wooden doors.   Blacksmith Shop & Forges:
Found near the north-west part of the castle, behind a scorch and heavy wooden door that requires a major amount of strength to open. Past the door is a short hallway made of orange bricks, lit by a torch. Past the hallway is the headroom. Bookshelves line one wall, full of books with various blueprints and designs for basic items (IE armor, shields, melee weapons, bows, arrows, saddles, structures, etc). Along the opposite wall are many glass display cases containing some of the highest quality items made, with plaques that describe the various items. Centered on the doorway, is a worn wooden desk and chair, with a large worn book often used to record customers requests.
Past the desk on the back wall, is another heavy door that leads to another hallway and another spacious room. Within this room are many furnaces, constantly running and raising the whole temperature of the room to an uncomfortable 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Opposite the furnaces are metal shelves containing many molds and tools. In the center of the room is a large anvil and a large tub of water used for forging various items. The floor is heavily scorched and covered in bits of metal that have melded partially to the ground. This room is owned by Darius 'John' Henry and Avice Schmit, them being the expert blacksmiths for the Celestial Lumanine.   Back-Courtyard:
The courtyard is located on the west side of the castle. Entrance to this courtyard is through a wooden door, with a window near the top. The ground is made of uneven cobblestones, and surrounded on all sides by either the castle walls, or an outer wall that has guards strolling along the top. An uneven stone bench sits near the outer wall, while in the very center, is a tree with silver bark and golden leaves. Though wind never enters the courtyard except during heavy storms, the leaves of the trees are always rustling lightly. Almost noe one enters this courtyard except for a few individuals.   Infirmary:
The hospital is located in the center, being one of two rooms on the second floor, accessed via two swinging doors. Inside, white tiles line almost every wall, floor, and ceiling. Plenty of beds line either end of the walls, with a small office being located at the end of the room where all of the medicines, drugs, and so on are kept secure. Parting drapes roll around on tracks on the ceiling, allowing those in the infirmary some privacy. Nurses are often seen roaming around tending to those injured, cleaning, or so on.   Athenaeum:
This large library is located under the castle, accessed via a stairwell (that also leads to the second and third floors). The stairwell is dark, made of rough hewn stone, and lit by torches. At the bottom is a heavy iron door that swings on creaking and rusty hinges. Inside the actual room, the floor is made of uneven cobble, the walls as well. The ceiling, made of stone arches, is hidden in shadows. Chains extend from the darkness to low-hanging lanterns that illuminate the area. rows upon rows of bookshelves, aligned to point toward the center of the room in a radial pattern extend high into the darkness, crammed with ancient and dusty books. Some from before the Earth Reforming Calamity. At the center of the room set onto of a hatch door, is a well-kept wooden desk and padded chair, with a lamp on the desk for extra light. An ink bottle and pen reside on the desk as well. The extensive library is said to be magic, with the desk at the center changing in attempts to pull in the visitors to endlessly pursue the vast knowledge there, or provide answers to one of a questioning soul.   Command-Center:
One of two rooms on the second floor, accessed via a steel door that requires high-level access to enter. The walls are lined with dozens of desks, large machines, radios, computers, and the like. Many people are seated in office chairs, communicating via radios to others. There is always two officers stationed in the Command-center, writing down intel they receive and compiling it for reports to their superiors. Bright lamps hanging from the ceiling illuminate the room, not counting the lights from monitor screens and the blinking lights of machines. At the far end of the room, lining the wall, are massive servers, containing any and all data the Celestial Lumanine requires to operate. In the center is a large table with a touch-screen built in, used for displaying positions of those on missions and enemies. Only those with the current clearance can enter.   War-Room:
The only room on the third floor and used to brief individuals on missions they will be departing on. The walls are decorated with various coat of arms, maps, the Celestial Lumanine symbol, and a window centered on each wall. In the center of the room is a large table, featuring a map of the entire known world, oftentimes pieces can be seen on the map in various locations, with William Anderson moving them around in pondering thought. Against the far wall is a bookcase, stuffed with smaller maps of specific areas and buildings. On the adjacent wall is a large desk, often used to hold items specific to missions and briefing.   Watchtowers:
The towers at the corner of the castle (excluding the southeast tower, that being William's Tower), used to keep a sharp eye on the surrounding terrain and sea for any danger. Each tower has four windows, pointing north, east, south, and west, and always with two guards posted in each tower and armed with rifles. The entrance to them, is very akin to William's tower, minus the door at the bottom of the stairwell.   Ancient Mechanical Cistern:
A secret chamber hidden under the entirety of the island, with the only way to access it being a hatch door in the library. William Anderson has forbidden anyone to enter, treason being the accusation if they do. From the hatch door, one meets with a ladder that leads down into a large spacious room, a domed ceiling that curves till it meets the metallic ground, covered in blinking lights in symbols, and a single pillar sticking out in the center. The pillar reaches halfway up to the ceiling before having a rounded top and a completely smooth surface. For the moment, it's purpose and the room's purpose is a mystery.   Training Facilities:
Located in the north part of the castle. Entered through extremely heavy metal doors, so much so that at times it requires two people to open. It's a square room, the floors and walls lined with thick sheets of Titanium, and illuminated by lanterns in titanium cages hanging from titanium chains from a titanium ceiling. The floor has markings to help with sparring matches and battle games. Punching bags, targets, and wooden spinning dummies line one wall. Various sparring gear resides in bins along the opposite wall. And padded mats are stacked against the far wall. Scorch marks, scratches, and dents can be seen splotching every metallic surface. And much of the training gear is either scorched, frayed, or full of holes from weapons.

History:

The very first settlement to be constructed once humanity emerged, as evidenced by the ancient machinery underneath Praetorium. It served as a strategic, moving fortress for the demons, having powerful weapons functioning on the bottom side of the island that could barrage targets on the ground. In 4367, William Anderson laid siege to the fortress and destroyed its machines, sending it plummeting into the sea below, fracturing it into three pieces, and burying it with propelling devices and many hangers below the surface. There it resided in ruins, abandoned and forgotten until 4470 when William Anderson returned and reconstructed the castle, the top level of the hangar, and the docks at the tip of the island. There it was worked on more and more, improving its quality till 4616 when Colton Diaíresi Toa was introduced to the Celestial Lumanine, and brought across the country to the fortress to reside in as his new home.

Seasonal Info:

In the spring, a torrential downpour is in plenty, causing puddles everywhere, tiny rivers streaming down from the castle, and the waves of the sea rise up in terrific waves to crash against the docks.
In the summer, sunburns are a plenty and the The Atlantis is mesmerizing with the sun reflecting off its calm waters. The castle becomes a welcome refuge against the heat as temperatures rise.
In the autumn, the weather is much like the spring, but colder.
In the winter, it's almost a nightmare. Water at the edges of the islands freezes over slightly. Snow covers almost the entire ground, blizzards are in plenty, and the blacksmith shop becomes a paradise compared to the freezing temperatures of the castle hallways.

Other info:

Despite oftentimes being in the middle of a war, under the Celestial Lumanine holidays are always celebrated to upkeep morale. Many describe the castle after being decorated, with the seasonal factors to add to the appearance, as almost magical, to which Lily Scientia Alledria always states 'it literally has magic within its boundaries', to the amusement of none, except Colton at times.   During times when they have work off, many of the people at Magna Arbor have a variety of activities they can do, some lead by mere soldiers, others by high-ranking officials. These can range from sports, to artsy hobbies, to studies, to even meditation and so on. Many will be performed out on open fields away from any military activity going on, and as a result, make the entire castle seem more lively and cheerful, rather than a dreary military base.
