Avice Schmidt ((Ay-Viss Sh-mit))

Description:

In some ways, Avice is the complete opposite of Darius 'John' Henry, being a very short 4'9, making Darius 'John' Henry completely dwarf her. Despite her drwarfish size, Avice boasts a sizable amount of muscle, making her strong enough to swing heavy weapons, and beat most people in an arm wrestle. Her brown, short hair is often held back with hair clips (made by herself, as is almost any metal), contrasted by her pale and heavily freckled skin, with roseate colored irises.
While not on the battlefield (which almost always means she's in her blacksmith shop), Avice wears thick leather leggings and chest piece, scorched from fires, dusty from coals, and with odd bits of metal melted into it. Her hands are most often wearing gloves made of silver heat-reflective material, also with scorch marks. She'll either have darkened, protective glasses, or a welders hood on her head to protect her eyes from flying sparks and metal shrapnel.
Her battle-armor is pretty simple. Over a set of leather leggings and a long-sleeved chest piece, is a metal cuirass, metal gauntlets, a thick leather belt, and metal greaves, with thick leather boots that are steel toed. Her choice of weapon is a heavy mace with six points and a sharp tip, and a large buckler with a spike on top and on bottom.

History:

Having been born to, and grown up in a rough family that lived in New Lothdon, with Yoko Schmidt being one of her most favorite people. But due to her poor family, she experienced much malnourishment, resulting in her short height. She never developed a large appetite for food, even after she ran away from home, negatively impacting her family and leaving behind a desolate sister. Avice began working odd jobs and sleeping where she could till she could afford university tuition, resulting in her developing a heavy sense of needing to work constantly towards her passions, making her become an unhealthy workaholic. She eventually met Darius 'John' Henry, who told her about a specific university class he was going to take, and Avice, already smitten, decided to use the money she had saved up to attend university. Avice's workaholic nature served her well in university, allowing her to excel in blacksmithing and help Darius 'John' Henry with his own learning. The two of them soon established a relationship, graduated, and began working towards erecting their own blacksmith shop. They experienced a change of plans around 4608, and set it up in SlumsWealth instead of Aquila Mons, where they were both soon hired by William Anderson as personal blacksmiths for the Celestial Lumanine, also reconnecting with Avice's sister, Yoko Schmidt.

Personality:

She is often described as 'chaotic', 'testy', or even 'childish', due to the fact she's quite crazy at times. She takes almost any opportunity to tease her people, especially her friends, unless it should cross a line, in which case she gives people a lot of space, due to her lacking the proper social skills to help. Should someone tease her back or annoy her, she will explode on them and practically try to kill them (not 100%, but at least a little bit) with her mace weapon or hammers. She puts up a strong front, and doesn't let anyone (even Darius 'John' Henry at times) see her when she's emotional. This is also seen when someone suggests that she might have a quality that would imply her being weak, causing her to lash out at the individual. Despite her emotional flaws, she makes up for it with her skill, hard work, and dedication.

Caliber:

She doesn't possess a true Caliber, but really has a unique weapon she made with her ingenuity and skill in metalworking. Using her metal buckler (which is strong enough to deflect or even absorb very strong hits), which has a chain attached to her belt, she can then throw it out, causing more spikes to erupt from the buckler and bounce around like a dangerous frisbee. The chain allows her to swing it back to herself, catching the buckler instead of losing it. She's also learned to utilize the chain as a method to trip or tie up her targets before they get hit by the spiked-buckler. The drawback is, if someone manages to catch the buckler, the chain, or trap the whole device somehow, they can either pull the chain hard enough and snap the belt, disabling the device. Or tug a little lighter and drag Avice towards them, putting her at a vulnerable position.

Age: 31

Born May 18, 4585. Unlike her counterpart, Darius 'John' Henry, Avice grew up in a more rough family, causing (in relation to her birth month) Darius 'John' Henry to say that Avice can be as beautiful as the flowers, then as chaotic as the stormy rains.

Quirk:

Despite her strong front/personality, and almost fearlessness in battle, she has a severe fear of heights. She is comfortable on high surfaces, as long as there is a ten-yard distance between her and the edge. Should she be brought near, or over the edge (such as in repelling), she will cling to the nearest person or object tight enough to crush it to pulp and scream louder than a spoiled child. Should you mock her in this moment of weakness, she will make a promise to kill you in your sleep.

Relationship:

Having been dating Darius 'John' Henry since near the end of her university studentship. She's quite protective of him, though she hides it more often than not, but is more relaxed about showing it in battle. Even despite her closeness and attraction to Darius 'John' Henry, she's still reluctant to show vulnerable emotions to him, due to her upbringing. She only keeps this mask up for so long, until she has periods of time where it slips through, in which case Darius 'John' Henry takes her somewhere else where the two of them can be together privately.

Hobby:

Going hand-in-hand with her blacksmithing abilities, Katelyn has an extreme skill in pinpointing different materials, with a vast knowledge (even more than Lily in some areas) of where certain minerals can be found, and how they can be used, melting points, and so on. Though she doesn't she haven't the same level of skill at discerning weapons as Darius 'John' Henry, she's more adept at the material side of things. This allows her to make weapons of extreme high quality, though not always the most practical use. However, if she works with Darius 'John' Henry for weapon usage, then the two of them can create tools of such quality that  are rivaled by none except the dwarves.
