Unterland
Unterland is one of the eight countries of Lusitania. It lies on the western coast of the continent and therefore has a strongly pronounced navy. Unterland uses a very aggressive politic, holding the record for the most wars declared and participated in Lusitania.
Geography
Unterland lies on the western coast of Lusitania. Due to many wars and conflicts with Middenland the borders with the country aren't well defined. The edge of the desert defines the southern border of Unterland. It measures about 73200 sq-miles and therefore is the second-largest country in Lusitania. Its capital Fronio is located on the western coast of the continent.Climate
Unterland lies in a warm tropical climate zone. Due to the southwestern wind, it is hit by a lot of rainfall, benefitting agriculture, but also the growth of the jungle, which makes a big part of Unterland. The temperatures reach from 12°C in the winter to 37°C peaks in summers. The climate is rather humid.Vegetation
The western part of Unterland is deforested, allowing for agriculture. The center of Unterland is defined by the outstanding forest, which acts as a home to many tropical animals. The sea around the coast of Unterland has a lot of different kinds of fish and other sea animals.History

Unterland initially was the western coast colony of Lusitania. In 4386 b. BF, it was by far the smallest country in Lusitania. Since Unterland had an unreplaceable task for The Human Empire, namely ensuring the naval connection, security, and administration between Ephea and Lusitania, it felt neglected to get just such a small dominion. This results in the first Lusitanian war in 4381 b. BF with the result of Unterland extending its area almost four times. In 4342 b. BF, Unterland, and Brackland make the first alliance of Lusitania, which breaks just a few years later in 4324 b. BF due to Unterland's crushing defeat against Südland. From 4302 b. BF, Unterland competes with Oberland for the strongest navy, which results in a rivalry between those two countries. In 4057 b. BF almost every soldier of the army of Lusitania is called to serve in the army of the Human Empire for 50 years. Many soldiers of Unterland serve even longer. In 3872 b. BF, Middenland declares on Unterland to reconquer the lost territories. Unterland is almost wiped out from the attack and can only be saved by the Empire interfering. It keeps its territory but is obliged to pay a high monthly tax to Middenland. In 2934 b. BF, Unterland is victorious in another war against Middenland, breaking the tax law.Culture
Religion
The Pantheon of the Twelve-Gods is the dominating religion in Unterland. Since Unterland is home to some non-human creatures, some of them might have a different or additional religion and believe. However, officially these other beliefs are not a fixed integrated part of the society of Unterland.Lifestyle
Unterland is a very military country. Almost all professions are more or less connected with the army or navy, may it be military service, science, construction, or even agriculture. The lifestyle of a person from Unterland is very strict, disciplined, and very competitive with people of the same professions. The security in Unterland is remarkable and the country borders are largely closed.Politics

Unterland is a classical monarchy, reigned by one ruler, a distinct relative, and heir of Rondra. A small governmental system assists the king with his tasks. Opposite to other countries in Lusitania, the army (especially leading generals) have a major influence on political decisions.Foreign Policy
Unterland is a country with almost no allies. It is very aggressive towards its neighbors Middenland and Brackland while having a naval rivalry with Oberland. Südland in the south might be the friendliest neighbor of Unterland, however, even the desert kingdom isn't allied with Unterland. Because of Unterland's loyalty to The Human Empire and its outstanding commitment to fighting the Undead, the relationship between Lionstone and Unterland is very good. The flag of Unterland is arguably simple. The red-white stripes in the background represent Unterlands loyalty to the Human Empire, just like the golden lion in the foreground.

Lionstone might be Unterland's only ally in the New World. The capital of the Human Empire appreciates Unterland for its military service but it is concerned about Unterland's aggressive policy in Lusitania, which could become a potential problem for the whole Empire.

Both factions don't go very well with each other. They manipulate each other in the competition for the strongest navy. However, this rivalry did not result in a war yet.
War
Unterland declared war on Brackland, the unity of these old allies being broken a long time ago already. Because of the position of both countries, the war is rather stationary and doesn't advance in either direction.

Despite the COUCOL, Unterland and Middenland have war. The aggression came from Unterland, competing for territory.
