Horumasto
Horumasto is one of six elven factions of the Elven Alliance. It lies southern center of Durarin and due to its military importance in the war against the Drow Horumasto has very strong military, comparable to Lonthrad. The elven population of Horumasto are mostly Highelves.
Geography
To the west, the River Anduin serves as the border between Casduin and Horumasto. The northern border to Esteljhi and Aendari is River Celusundi. Beyond River Siril, the eastern border of the faction lies the territory of House Bellarpassa, one of the most aggressive houses of the Drow. This border is strongly reinforced by castles, fortresses, and elven armies. The territory of the faction measures about 60000 square miles. The capital of Horumasto is named Asyva Thalas and is the largest fortress in Durarin.Climate
Horumasto is located in the temperate climate zone. Temperatures reach from 4°C in winters to 28°C in summers. Similar to all other elven factions, the weather in Horumasto is influenced by magic. It has rather high precipitation, allowing large forests to grow. Besides that, magic balances out the different climates on the western and eastern sides of the mountain range.Vegetation
The flora and fauna in Horumasto are very rich and diverse. Especially wild animals living in the woods reach outstanding numbers. On the other hand, grazing animals and domesticated farm animals are rather rare. Since a large part of the faction's territory is covered by hills and mountains, it is not unusual to discover the typical mountain and hill flora and fauna.Politics
Horumasto is reigned by four aristocratic families. Instead of assigning different tasks to different families, the aristocrats just take over governmental tasks and decide on laws and who to put up to solve specialized tasks. Each family claims a seat in the Elven Alliance and additionally, the highest general of Horumasto claims the fourth seat in the alliance for Horumasto. The current general comes from a high elven family. The right to rule over Casduin is inherited and can not leave the noble bloodline, however, the same does not apply for the general claiming the fourth seat. In case of extinction of a noble family, the name is removed from the government and is not replaced. If the general of Horumasto falls or dies he is replaced by his successor. The banners of Horumasto often show a shield with typical high elven colors. Horumasto is known for its defensive war strategy and politics and is therefore also called the shield of the alliance.
