Ayet

The Ayet was the ruling council of Titanis, composed of representatives of the most powerful organisations in the empire. It was held in rotation on each of the nine sky cities, but as time passed the less influential cities began to be passed over, and ultimately the council settled in Titania, and expanded to include delegates from non-governmental organisations.   Originally composed of just the representatives of the nine sky cities, and at times rising to as many as fifty members, the most consistent delegates were:
  • The Imperion of Titanis, or their designated deputy, and three other representatives of Titanis. When the Ayet was a roving council, it was usual for each civic to chair the council in their turn, but to send a representative to meetings in the other cities. When the council settled in Titanis, the Imperion became permanent chair, although they would often delegate a member of their court to undertake the actual work of the role.
  • Three representatives of Eurosia, one speaking for each member of the Boread.
  • Three representatives of Astraea, two speaking for the Academician-Royal and one the Master of the Academy.
  • Two representatives of Caladea, speaking for the High Hospitaller and Principal Physician respectively.
  • One representative of Thosis, representing the City-Father of the necropolis.
  • Three representatives of Aenion, one speaking for each of the Masters of the Three Forges.
  • One representative of the Prime Astronomer of Xandias.
  • One representative of the Field Masters of Atrea.
  • Three representatives of the Technarch of Mecheri.
  • A representative of each of the Shrines of the Old Gods on Titanis.
  • A representative of the Shipping Masters, the most powerful of the trade guilds of Titanis.
  • A representative of the Arcanorum, the Astraean academy established to study arcane magic after the outset of the Colossus War.
  • A representative of the Shatterforge, a small forge on Aenion conducting forbidden research during the War.
  • A representative of the Library of Astraea, the central and increasingly independent archive which served all of the academies.
  • A representative of the Shadow Vault, an independent cloud palace acting as a private bank.
  • A representative of the Cleansers, a religious order dedicated to the eradication of Colossal influence and 'cultural disloyalty.'
