The Old City

Historic heart of the metropolis

The Old City feels like stepping into another time, a realm where the bustling energy of the newer districts gives way to quiet reflection and storied age. Narrow cobblestone streets wind unpredictably between buildings that lean slightly with the weight of centuries. Their facades, marked by faded carvings and weathered stone, stand as silent witnesses to the city’s earliest days. Ivy and moss cling to walls and archways, and the air carries a faint, earthy scent of stone and damp. It’s a place where history is palpable, woven into every crack and corner, creating an aura of reverence and mystery.   The sounds here are different from the rest of the city—a distant echo of bells, the creak of wooden shutters in the breeze, and the murmur of elderly residents recalling tales of long ago. In the heart of the district, remnants of old fortifications rise, now softened by time but still imposing. Stalls in the small market square offer relics, antique tools, and faded maps, drawing curious scholars and travelers. Despite the district’s charm, there’s a sense that its age weighs heavily, a quiet reminder that the Old City has endured more than it lets on, holding its secrets close beneath the surface.
