The Hill

Where Power Sleeps and the Gods Watch

The Hill rises gracefully above the rest of the City League, a district of elegance, opulence, and quiet authority. Here, the city’s oldest families, wealthiest merchants, and most cunning players in the game of influence make their homes behind high stone walls and wrought-iron gates. The streets are wide and tree-lined, swept clean by servants rather than necessity, and the air carries the scent of fresh blooms and expensive incense. To walk the Hill is to step into a world of refined power, where titles and legacy matter more than gold, and where reputation can shape a life as surely as a blade.
Though primarily residential, The Hill is also home to exclusive services and private institutions. Discreet stables tend to the finest horses, and tailors, jewellers, and healers serve a clientele who demand only the best. It is said that nothing in the Hill is sold over a counter—only through introductions, referrals, and trust built over generations. For outsiders, gaining favour here is a task not easily undertaken, and every glance carries meaning.   Among the marble columns and manicured gardens, a collection of small but lavish temples reflects the spiritual heart of the Hill’s elite. These temples are as much about status as they are about faith, dedicated to gods whose virtues mirror the ambitions of their followers. The Temple of Abex-Sritannia, God of Charisma and Dominance, is a place of polished mirrors and silver tongues, where nobles seek blessings for influence and command. Nearby, the House of Dayleeh, God of Vigour, resonates with life and energy, drawing those who desire strength, youth, and passion renewed.   The Sanctuary of Fianna, Goddess of Judgment, stands as a solemn bastion of truth and consequence, often attended by those who preside over the city’s laws, or who seek to ensure their rivals face the weight of justice. By contrast, the Temple of Mielsin, God/Goddess of Romance, offers a softer touch, a haven for those entwined in the delicate dance of love, be it for genuine union or political gain. And finally, towering slightly above the rest, the Shrine of Saith the Protector, God of Vengeance and Giver of Law, casts a long shadow. Here, oaths are sworn, and retribution is sanctified, a reminder that wrongs will not go unpunished, and that law is a blade as well as a shield.   To walk The Hill is to walk among the architects of destiny, mortal and divine alike. Those who dwell here do so with the confidence that they shape the city below—and perhaps, with the quiet fear of what might rise from it.
