Nouvemond's future source of wealth came from an unexpected discovery: the cave system of Vilennor.

Nouvemond was sending search parties through all the region in order to find new resources to battle Hrastgar, and one of them found a cave complex to the mountains north-east of Esperbrook. The exploration of these caves lead to the discovery of new types of magical metals, gems and minerals, but at the cost of the life of the expedition leader, Raymond Vilennor, who would then have the town named after him.
