The Companions
A group of young adventurers who rose to notoriety from 154-158 KE in the Kingdom of Andor, during the reign of King Edgar I. They played pivotal roles in major Aedrus events, including the kidnapping of Prince Patrick, the Fall of Ironpass, and the War of the Lion.
History
The trio of adventures met in the city of Andor in 154 KE, each a low-ranking member of the Kingdom government. Rafe Windsong, a talented young wizard, was apprentice to the Court Magus Mordicon. Mathias Ares was a new recruit in the Wardens of the King's Forest, an organization of rangers employed to protect the Andorian countryside. And Kin'Saan Watari was a diplomant from Harano, the eldest son of King Edgar's close friend, Ikuzu Watari. The trio was initially caught up in the kidnapping of Prince Patrick, and played a pivotal role in foiling the conspiracy, later returning the young prince to his family, gaining them a valuable political ally in the ConDoin royal family. Eventually, their adventures to safeguad the realm would take to all corners of Aedrus. They played a pivotal role in defending the Kingdom against Orcish incursion at the Fall of Ironpass, and would later defend the realm from Keshian invasion at the Siege of Tantric. The power and influence of the Companions began to decline after the War of the Lion, where their backing of Crown Prince Leon ConDoin led to political ostracism after King Garrick II's ascension to the throne. Eventually, Ser Mathias took up full-time residence in Harlequin, while Kin'Saan Watari return to Harano to deal with his ailing father and political instability. Rafe Windsong, tired of political machinations, grew more isolated and eventually retired from his Magus posting to continue magical research in his remote labratory in Caelum.
