Kingdom of Andor
Largest human nation in Aedrus, located in the middle of the continent between the Northlands and the Keshian Empire.
History
Following the Wars of Ambition in 98 BKE, the weakened human towns and villaages were devastated by an orcish invasion from the Northlands. Over the decades-long conflict, the militia captain Rodoric ConDoin gained reknown for his military strategy and heroism. After the orcs defeat, Rodoric reluctantly filled the power vacuum. To ensure that such a clamity never happened again, Rodoric proclaimed that the independent villages, towns, and cities of the human lands must be united. On Midwinter's Day, in the town of Crux on the Great Lake, Rodoric ConDoin was coronated King Rodoric I, and in turn he appointed vassals to rule the other human townships. Against his advisors' wishes, Rodoric I turned down the idea of building a palace in Northwarden, and ordered a new city built on the ruins of Bagaard Keep. As the Kingdom expanded, Tantric and Northwarden were divided into dukedoms, and borders were declared along the Titans' Teeth and the Marches. Rodoric I installed his brother-in-law, Karlov Byron, as Lord of the North, and his most trusted comrade-in-arms, Edgar Balantine, as Lord of the South. For a century the Kingdom prospered, but it fell into disarray upon the assassination of King Edgar I, when his sons Leon and Garrick fought in a civil war known as the War of the Lion. Despite Leon's formidable army and assistance from the Companions, Leon eventually fell in battle and his brother ascended the throne as King Garrick II.For too long we have been the whetstone upon which the orcs have ground their blades. We can no longer die as independent villages, we must band together for the sake of humankind's own survival.
Political Structure
Andor is a human nation (known colloquially as "the Kingdom) with four regional capitals. The city of Andor rules over the western forests, Northwarden guards the mountainous north, Gedone governs the eastern grasslands and ports, and Tantric controls the southern desert and the entrance to the Marches. For most of its history, the city of Andor functioned as the capital of the Kingdom. However, following the War of the Lion, the center of power has shifted to Gedone under the regency of King Garrick II.
