Varkalis is the capital of Dalindren, a vassal state of the Kingdom of Faron in southeastern Adynía. Its symbol is a bear with a hawk on its back.

Demographics

The people of Varkalis are mostly Dalindreans or Faronians, the latter being much more common than in Skymbris in neighboring Fazeron. In general, the population is more diverse than in Fazeron, with Dvarrans, Dardians and various Gysikani living there as well.

Government

Varkalis is the seat of the Gelkix dynasty, which rules the city and Dalindren in general and serves as mediators between the locals on one hand, and the Faronian aristocracy on the other.

Infrastructure

Much of Varkalis is underground, with a main tunnel serving as a marketplace and hub for various other parts of the city, including the famed Zóalabik Vral Academy.

Architecture

Varkalis is widely referred to as the black city due to the extensive use of black marble in its architecture, most notably in the ceiling of its main tunnel, which is speckled with gold to imitate the night sky. Gold, lapis lazuli and (to lesser extend) white marble are used as well.
