Proto-Dwarves
Proto-Dwarves1 refers to the earliest dwarven societies inhabiting the western Wild Mountains in northeastern Adynía between 20.000-16.000 b.Paþ, until their dispersal west to Gráhúlysía one one hand and south to the Sjorgús Mountains one the other, due to colder climate at the time and pressure from neighbouring human tribes.
Among the few things they left behind in the Wild Mountains are intricate images of totemic animals carved on a few cave walls there. The human tribes inhabiting the region believe them to be early attempts of the gods to create the fauna of the mountains, and leave offerings at the cave entrances after successful hunts.
