Faraldún Academy
The Faraldún Academy is one of the oldest arcane academies in Marissía and Adynía in general, centered on an observatory upon a hill by the river Little-Níaþan in Ófelóin, northern province of the Kingdom of Marissía. It's located in the middle of Faraldún, a town not far from the provincial capital of Eiakal to the west.
Most of the students are native Marissíans or Þataleans from all over the kingdom, along with a few Sikíronians, Paheiríen-Elves and Núrakic Elves, with subjects ranging from astronomy and mathematics to medicine and healing magic.

Architecture
The main building of the academy is a square, two-story stone structure where lectures are held during the winter and on rainy days, which forms the base of a tall, circular tower that acts as an observatory. The building is reached via steep stairway and surrounded by trees, under which shade lectures are held during summer, and a small shrine to the sky goddess Nannaþía.
History
Faraldún Academy is built on a site that has long been associated with astronomy; in ancient times, a complex arrangement of standing stones stood there, erected by local marrisíans to calculate the appropriate time for sowing, harvesting, religious festivals and war, until the it was struck by a meteor that damaged most of the structure. Believing the place to be cursed as those who lingered there grew deadly ill, the people consulted a snake oracle, who instructed them to cover the entire site with rammed earth, thus creating the modern hill, after which the place was abandoned.
Centuries later, as the events had become the stuff of legends, the first observatory was built atop the hill in the form of a simple wooden tower, much like a common watchtower, along with an altar to Nannaþía, both of which were expanded upon until the academy took its current form.
