Island of Evonia
The island of Evonia is a large island off the western coast of Ryva. It is the westernmost of the Imperial Realms. In ancient times the island was the homeland of the Orcs but it was conquered by the elves between 9 IC and 12 IC. Today the island is home to the Evonian Republic which covered the entirety of the island and its archipelago. To the island's northeast is the island of Midvale, and to its north is Wineta and island which streches far into the frozen north.
Geography
Evonia has a gentle temperate climate. Being a large island it features a variety of geograpical features. The northern part of the islandis covered in forests and hills. These features continues down along the eastern coast towards the "portum", a peninsula jutting into the Borean Sea. An archipelago of stony islands strech out into the ocean. Accoring to the elves this is where their fleet first made landfall when they arrived on Adar. While the elves claim not to worship the place is as close to holy as they will admit any place to be. The natural features here have been preserved, the forest is protected and no agriculture is allowed. There is a large memorial here, which it is customary for elves to visit in the year they come of age. These hills then peter out further south. Along the west coast the land is flat around the Pillars of Creation where the city of Axendria sit surrounded by farmsland. The island narrows north of the Eladrin Lake. The lands surrounding the lake are flat and lush. On the eastern shore of the lake lies the city of Varsovia. Southward from here the land rises. To the east the Wroch peninsula strech into the Sheltered Sea. Here the moutains rise to more than three thousand meters. It was here that those orcs who refused to leave the island made their last stand. Orc tribes were reported to be still active in the mountains well into the 5th century. The southernmost part of Evonia consist of three jagged peninsula streching southwards. There are hilly and heavily forested. The coasts here are tamed and settled, but otherwise these areas are mostly wilderness.
