Varsovia

Varsovia is the second city of the Republic. It is traditinally considered the seat of the "Greens", both politically and in terms of chariot racing. It is often seen as the most beautiful of the Republic's cities.

Demographics

Varsovia is primarily an elven city. Aside from them humans make up a notable part of the population, mostly in the form of guest workers and servants. Most wealthy elven families maintain mansions in and around Varsovia, retreats from the hustle and bustle of the capital, and a pleasant holiday site during the cold winters. 
Primarily it is an agricultural town. The area surrounding Varsovia is among the most productive on the island. Managed forests also provide wood, fruits and herbs of various sorts. Varsovia is also famous for its horse pastures. The cavalry horses of the Evonian army and many of the racing horses used in chariot races hail from this region. 
Furthermore Varsovia is famed for its wine production. 
All in all the city is wealthy, even among elven cities. There is little true poverty, as labour is always in demand somewhere.

Government

The city's government is the Republic's governement in miniature. The towns citizens can be called together in assembly by the towns Aedile's to vote on laws. Former magistrates of the city meet in a Concilium to advice the sitting officeholders in most matters. Four local Tribunes ensure that citizens' basic rights are protected and veto laws they believe to be against the public interest.
