Arthur Crispien

Arthur Crispien is chairman and member of The Berlin Soviet for The Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany, he was also a member SPD the the party split due to opposition to the war.

Life:

Arthur Crispien was born in Königsberg to August and Franziska Crispien. He joined the SPD around 1894 and rose though its rank's. By 1914, Arthur opposed war credit's and later help found the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany.

During the German Revolution of 1918 to 1919, he was dismissed from government for the USPD's approval of the Spartacist uprising. Fellowing the Kapp Pustch, Arthur fled arrest and joined with The Communist Party Of Germany who were mounting forces in East Germany, Paul Levi and him agreed to from a new socialist coalition government.

After May 10, Communists seized Berlin and proclaimed The German Soviet Republic. The Reichstag was renamed into The Berlin Soviet with only The Communist Party Of Germany and The Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany as only parties within government. Arthur was heavily involved in the progress to try to allow The Social Democratic Party Of Germany now under Hermann Müller into the government.

However, hesitation from The KPD made his efforts all in vain as by mid 1921, Paul was replaced with Heinrich Brandler a hardliner of the party.

Sidelined:

Heinrich began, crackdowns on SPD's and The USPD's activities something, Arthur criticized. By the end of 1922, with The Berlin Soviet powerless and The Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany as the complete mercy of The Communist Party Of Germany, he briefly considered fleeing the country. However, his loyalty to his party made him rule out that option, deciding to try to salvage his seemly hopless situation.

As of 1923, Arthur is isolated and walls are closing in, with talks of merger between The USPD and The KPD or a complete USPD ban has unease Arthur. Is The USPD's time over?
