Wa-Tika

/Wah-Tee-Ka/   Translated, means The Academy.   Wa-Tika was established 60 years after the great event by Bright Salah in the heart of Qu'sra.   It is a large dome and spire-dotted building that dwarfs the more modest surrounding structures.   It was established as a school to train those Statically gifted to hone those abilities for the betterment of society.

Purpose / Function

Some children are born attuned to Static flows more so than others. For those who have demonstrated that possibility, they receive a message and are summoned before the Brights on their 18th birthday.   On acceptance the child is brought into the school and put up in the Eastern Wind. The first day for new students is the first day of each calendar year on New Years.   They then train for three years and hone their different magical and sub-magical abilities to their peak and learn the rules of using magic responsibly and for the betterment of civilization.   Different tracks of study include: all forms of wizardry, natural and religious-focused magics, art and entertainment, and then more physical forms such as fighters and barbarians.

Architecture

The Chamber - A massive room where the Brights convene. It resembles a massive stadium in size. On the ceiling and walls are beautiful murals of what the world once looked like. Trees everywhere, rivers flowing, depictions of animals and people who no longer exist. Real trees grow out of the static-enriched ground, forming a broken canopy. Through which a shimmering stained glass circular window shines squarely upon on 6 ornate wooden chairs in which the Brights sit. The colors change at a slow pleasing pace. Behind them is one massive tree, which grows over the tomb of Salah Mananujar. It is an amazing sight to behold, especially for people who have never and will never see anything even remotely similar no matter how far in the desert they were able to walk.   The East Wind - a large spire which houses the students of Wa-Tika. Third years are allowerd to live off campus. On the ground floor there's two stairways that lead up to the dorms and the library which is freely open to students and by request to the general public. The stairways lead to a curtain-covered doorway that when walked through puts the creature in the correct room for their year and gender.   The North Wind - A large dining hall. The school employs some of the best chefs in Qu'sra who can prepare Na'ma in way little experienced outside the walls of Wa-Tika. They also know they much coveted spell Heroe's Feast, which is cast only on the most special of occasions.   The West Wind - A long series of halls and classrooms which extend towards Mount Iron Heart, stopping short of the sacred ground. The teachers residence are in towers above their classrooms resulting in this wing having numerous minaret. The classrooms are circular with bright light pouring in from the outside. Each teacher has taken it upon themselves to alter each room to the needs of the class. Because of this no one room looks alike. Some teachers opt for more time in the city and some, even further.   The South Wind - This is the more public-facing part of Wa-Tika. It is where average citizens go if they're in need of assistance from members of The Light. Through these programs, students are frequently recruited to assist the general populous with certain tasks where Static is required. The Flames central headquarters is located here, as well as Commander Fogal Gawe's office. Benti Abebe also has an office in this wind.
