Session 23: The Party Gets Fit

General Summary

Paralyzed from the spell, Aaura faced stern questions. She pleaded that she was only trying to find the missing library books, a thin excuse that did not sit well with the wizards. They naturally thought she was working with the Jasper Covenant and warned Aaura to watch the company she keeps. Under threat of lethal retaliation, they sent her from the room.   Outside she met with Faelyn, and the two of them slunk away from the Mages’ quarters. In the hallway they bumped into MacWenn, the Oryan delegate that had taken Faelyn’s money at the gambling table in Fort Godwit. He was on his way to the Electrum Hall to try his luck again, and asked if Faelyn and Aaura would be heading to the Masquerade at Moonshadow Manor tomorrow.   Returning to the foyer, Aaura and Faelyn reunited with Shadow, Keokan, Aatavi, and Omori. Bidding farewell to Aatavi and the others, Ilya took her leave to find the other Covenant members. Over flagons of ale and the variety of delectables at the sideboard, the Shore’s Light swapped tales of their time apart; being arrested, hopeful reunions, breaking and entering, and zombie sharks.   Although somewhat bruised and battered, the party still had most of the evening ahead of them so they decided to head towards The High Needle, a tailor’s shop in the Parade Heights. As they made their way towards the March Square they saw that Harvest festivities were in full swing. Bards busked for coin, jugglers performed feats to amaze, and a fire breather stood on the lip of a great tiered fountain delighting the gathered crowd. Many stores kept late hours that evening, hoping to capitalize on the festive throng. At the far edge of the square they saw a three story building topped with a large brightly painted steeple. The windows within showcased a number of ball gowns and masquerade costumes. They had found the High Needle.   Within the shop they were helped by Paris, a slender tiefling with a pencil thin mustache. The Needle was teeming with folks who had waited until the last minute to purchase party outfits but the staff was well prepared. Moving from floor to floor, the Shore’s Light found costumes and elegant clothing - all (with the help of some minor magic) tailored to fit. Faelyn showed reluctance to remove his cloak and gloves for his fitting, and Keokan had to interpose himself between his friend and the tailor. Ever the party’s banker, Shadow paid for their costumes in gold and requested that their new clothes be sent to the Commorancy.   Heading back into the reveling crowd, they soon discovered an Enchanter’s Shop. Curious to see what was offered at “Myriell’s Myriad” they opened the door and entered. Not only did they see a number of unusual magical items, they also discovered Patches of Summer, one of the tabaxi kits not contracted to the Wishbone. Patches told Shadow that she was apprenticing as an alchemist and quite enjoying herself, a fact the shop’s owner, Myriell Brimsbane, confirmed. After perusing the magical goods, Myriel sold them a bag of holding and said she would work on enchanting Keokan’s tabaxi short sword. Taking it from the goliath, she instructed Keokan to return tomorrow.   Having had a long day, the heroes returned to the Amabassador’s Commorancy for a much needed long rest. In the low lantern light of their room, Faelyn revealed that the dragon scales covering his hands were spreading, covering patches of his lower arms and a stretch along his back. Undeterred by this development, Aatavi promised to protect his friend at all costs and the group fell hard asleep.   A lowly rooster crowed in the distance, heralding the morning, and the Shore’s Light started for the Pantheonic Temple. Although no one answered the door, they soon found Father Triftan sleeping in his quarters. Having partaken of a few too many cups of wine the night before he was quite hungover, but he still managed to remove the lycanthropic curse from Shadow.   The burden of the curse lifted, the party made their way to the Rose & Copperthorn Guildhouse, the center of all indenture contracts within Damarask. A brief conversation with the Guildmaster (and a 100 gp administration fee) allowed Shadow to look at the contract for Echoes of Thunder.   Echoes’ contract had been purchased for 700gp by a gnome named Gorbin Blundertruss, owner of The Prime Facet Jewelry shop in the Aerie. With the new information in tow, they left the Guildhall and moved back into the streets.   The second day of the Harvest Festival was on hand. The heroes moved into the Parade Heights with a full day ahead of them and the Moonshadow Masquerade that night.
