Parade Heights

Parade Heights is a district in the city of Damarask known for its beauty. Many years ago, control of the district was given to a council of aestheticaly minded mages who sought to bring beauty and culture to the city. A number of parks, statues, dance halls, and theaters can be found here. The residential and commercial properties found in Parade Heights are upscale and well taken care of, and the citizens of this district take great pride in maintaining its aesthetic beauty.   Entrance to and from Parade Heights comes by a handful of main roads. From the Sideways Warren, Crooked Lane crosses into Parade Heights via the Gold Bridge. Pike street passes from the Armsedge through the Regent's Arch and into the southern part of the district before continuing to the northwest, out of the Ember Archway and into the Brasspot.   Parade Heights most influential citizen is the wizard and former adventurer Harker Penumber.

Defences

In addition to the oversight provided by the Goldfeathers, Parade Heights has a district wide force of soldiers known as the Parade Watch.

Infrastructure

Parade Heights has a number of parks, gardens, and fountains throughout the district.  Its main entrances are the Gold Bridge from the Sideways Warren, the Regent's Arch from the Armsedge and the Ember Archway that leads into the Brasspot.  All are kept clean of debris and graffiti.  The March Square, where Crooked Lane meets Pike Street, contains the Fountain of the Six Stars, a beautiful 6 tiered marble fountain.

Points of interest

The Regents Arch - On the border between the Armsedge and Parade Heights, the Regents Arch functions as a gatehouse and guard house. A number of guards from the Armsedge are always housed here, and its upper levels are commonly frequented by Aarakocra members of the Goldfeathers. The entrance to Parade Heights, however, is managed by violet cloaked members of the Parade Watch. The Watchmen are very discerning about who is allowed to enter the Heights. It is not uncommon for them to turn people away for trifling or unfair reasons.   Regency Park - Just north of the Regent's Arch and flanking Pike Street is Regency Park. Designed centuries ago, this park features a variety of blooming flowers and fruit trees, most notably the cherry trees that blossom in early Spring. Its natural beauty has been augmented with years of landscaping. Many consider this park to be a jewel not only of the district, but all of Damarask.   The Ember Archway - This archway lays on the border between the Brasspot and Parade Heights. Like many buildings in the Brasspot, it features gilded details that flash and reflect the light of the passing sun. Carvings and bas reliefs set around the archway depict images from the Elemental Plane of Fire and the City of Brass.   The Gold Bridge - Spanning the narrow inlet between the Sideways Warren and Parade Heights, this bridge contains three switchbacks as it descends and is always monitored by members of the Parade Watch who keep undesirables from cluttering the streets of the higher end district.   The March Square - The center of commerce in Parade Heights, the March Square is also the home to a plethora of street performers, carnival acts, and puppet shows. The Fountain of the Six Stars, Electrum Hall, and the Magic Lantern Theater can be found here.   Fountain of the Six Stars - This massive marble, six tiered fountain, depicts the history of the city of Damarask; from its early beginnings as a Ymmari Fortress, through the cataclysm that sunk its citadel beneath the waves, to the fall of the Ymmari Empire through the Grand Uprising, its occupation by the six original factions, and a top layer representing the ruling factions of the moment.   The Albatross - The most popular tavern in Parade Heights, featuring three levels, roof access, and a large stage for performers.   The Down Feather Inn - A high end Inn with a number of rooms and higher end suites. All suite rentals come with a servant as part of the amenities. The Down Feather is operated by Gyron and Jamal Tallinsker, a pair of former adventurers who have retired to enjoy the finer things in life.   Electrum Hall - A dance hall and tavern in Parade Heights known for its late night carousing.   The Magic Lantern - A theater known for its grand illusions, crowd pleasing pantomimes, and tragic melodramas.  The Rogues Regent Resplendent have taken up residence at the theater and have been performing and producing works for over a decade.   Myriell's Myriad - An enchanter's shop specializing in magic items and creating custom made enchanted items. Run and operated by Myriell Brimsbane, a gnome enchanter of high renown.   The High Needle - Parade Heights has a number of tailors in the district but none is more in demand than Queenie Maczander and her team of designers.   The Rarefied Spine - A bookstore specializing in rare finds and arcane tomes. Owner Reginald Minksworthy keeps close tabs on his inventory.   Amarena Row - A strip of high end, four story row houses that overlook Regency Park. These domiciles all include roof access, where affluent citizens throw parties and gain vantage over the district below.   Moonshadow Manor - The Manor house and estate grounds of Harker Penumber. Moonshadow Manor is the sight of frequent parties, balls, and events throughout the year. Its gardens and fountains are tended and change frequently with the season. Invitations to the manor are highly sought after.
