Session 045 - Aftermath

General Summary

2nd of Morgat (12) 720TR to 10th Nuzyael (1) (Winter) 721TR

The story so far

The Heroes have thwarted the nefarious plans of the Church of Naveh and saved the City of Coranan from destruction at the hands of the Greater Gytevsha Krasula. Athena's squire Lucia proved herself by striking the critical final blow in the epic battle.

Now they have time to attend to their own plans and ambitions. Quazzy now has an opportunity to investigate her lost and dark past.

Arise, Dame Lucia.

Athena decides now is the time to confer knighthood on to her squire Lucia. In the conclusion of a ceremony attended by friends and family, she draws a sword from the holy fire, and it bursts into flame. Agrik appears pleased with the young Crimson Dancer Knight.

Wizard talk.

Quazzy visits the Wizard Seross Thanga and returns the powerful Rod of Spell Absorption she borrowed for help during the recent crisis. She declines Seross's offer to remove her from the list of Renegade Spellcasters, preferring to operate as a free agent. However, on behalf of the party, she accepts a magical ring, Lightning's Bane, as a reward for their efforts.

Illegal Possibilities.

Yureb receives a message from Koral the Bloody , the head of the Thieves Guild - The Nemirina Family have not paid their protection money. The heroes have killed Baloth Nemirina, who was secretly the head of the Church of Naveh. Yureb interprets this as approval has been given to him to rob their mansion. Plans are being made.

Property Investors.

The party decides it is time to have permanent accommodation. They purchase the now vacant Pipe and the Potion Apothecary after the owner untimely death. This building has access to the cities Water Cisterns and the Spiderlodge, a long-dead magical gateway. They use their government contacts to wall up the apparent entrance to this chamber.

Meeting with the Patron.

After casting a Dimension Door spell, Quazzy finds that instead of arriving at her target destination, she is transported to a macabre, dark wood home of her warlock patron Desridaen. He has been traveling all over the world, noting how it has changed over the last millennia, and has much to tell Quazzy.

  • He knows where the weapons he has created are, who holds them, and who they have slain.
  • He knows when Quazzy first touched her Dagger, about three years ago at the Ruins of Anisha, an isolated and mysterious Earthmaster complex.
  • The wielders of that Dagger were a man in a Golden Skull mask, and the Raven Woman. They visit Anisha around every 30 years to perform a ceremony and transfer their souls into new younger bodies. This ceremony was interrupted, and a portion of the Raven Woman's soul was trapped in Quazzy's body. This where Quazzy acquired her Arcane Necromantic Knowledge. It can only be freed by the completion of the ceremony or Quazzys Death.
  • This Man and Women are powerful spellcasters over one thousand years old, former lieutenants of Lothrim the Foulspawner. They enter and leave Anisha though the Godstone.
  • Desridaen says that Quazzy will find clues for her past there.

She takes the opportunity to ask for more knowledge about what her patron has seen during his long life and time in the planes. Desridaen agrees to show her images from the world thousands of years ago, before the coming of the humans, and visions of the horrors of dwelling in the realm of the gods under such an evil god as Naveh.

The Boat and the Trolls.

The heroes wait until spring then start their travel to Anisha. They travel north, first to Town of Telen to put orders in for some Silver Weapons with the Black Forge smithy then to the City of Shiran to hire a boat. A fisherman, who often transports Pilgrims of Ilvir across Lake Benath, agrees to take them to Naga Ford within a day's walk from Anisha.

The trip is initially uneventful; however, two Ivashu are hunting and plan to ambush the heroes. These large Trolls prove to be quite a handful. Their claws tipped with what looks like metal or stone claws that badly scratched Lucia and Yureb's Blades. They attack from the water then retreat into the lake to frustrate the heroes. As they strike, they rocked the boat, trying to knock an unfortunate into the water. Eventually, the heroes determined that a combination of fire and magical cold prevented their regeneration. They were dispatched, with their spirits returning to Ilvir, whose tower is not far away, to be reborn.
