What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?


  Currently there is no way to easily spesify the creator of a species. This is fine for species created through evolution and other natural phenomena, and can be subverted by manually writing what or who created a species, but this is suboptimal if you wish to have a simple way of specifying what deity, person or organization have created a species in cases where this is relevant.  

How does this feature request address the current situation?

By adding a field where you can choose who created a species if applicable it can easily be added to the sidebar like other information, making it simple to specify what or who created a species as well as making it simple to quickly identify this information from the side-bar.  

What are other uses for this feature request?

If the option allows you to select organizations as well as characters and allowed you to select multiple creators, World Anvil creators could have a simple standarized way to convey the origin of a species outside of just parent species.

    I think this is pretty niche and you could just put the creator in the "discovered by" field instead, and just specify in the article that they were the creator.

    I'm not sure this field would be required often enough to justify adding it as a field instead of just manually inputting it into the sidebar.

    Especially useful for species like Homonculi or Constructs. I can think of more than a few artificial species in just my own worlds that I would like a feature like this for.

    Great for warforged / constructs for fantasy, and a gigaton of stuff (lab-grown, synthetic, robot) for sci-fi.   You can't just put humans as ancestor, cause it doesn't convey the origin quite well enough.   I just use "Artificial" for the type, that seems to work now, but linking a creator is certainly kinda cool.   Fantasy settings could also use this to have deities marked as characters that created that species, for worlds that do not follow evolution, but use creation instead.

    Given fantasy and sci-fi (i.e. the main two genres you will find on WA) both often have created species, yeah, this actually seems really important
