manuscripts bbcode block-links embed chapters

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

There is a bbcode tag for linking the entire manuscript with its cover, but for parts (chapters), there's only a text link available. When I want to share a newly published chapter or just any particular chapter in general, I therefore have to pick between linking the whole manuscript (with no way to point the reader directly to what I want them to check out), or only providing a text link to the part which is not very visually interesting.   As an example, this is the "whole manuscript embed" for one of mine:

Renegade

It looks visually pleasing and is immediately recognizable by the use of the cover, providing a clear call to action as well with the "READ" button.   In comparison, this is the only way (I know of) to link a part/chapter of a manuscript: Prologue in Renegade It's pretty underwhelming and easy to miss, in my opinion.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

By adding a similar embed for manuscript parts as is already available for the whole manuscript, writers can share specific parts of updated or newly uploaded parts more easily and in a more visually appealing way.

What are other uses for this feature request?

Any creative use that people could come up with really, if they had the convenient ability to embed specific parts of a manuscript with its cover and the call to action button.

A workaround would be to create a cover as an image and then link it manually, but it would be nice to have the ability to link chapters on their own. If so, it would also be neat to have different book covers available to upload for each chapter, or some external indicator to let people know which chapter is being linked before they click it. Nevertheless, thanks for suggesting. God bless.

As someone who is dependent on the manuscript function. I second this so hard

I approve this message. As I consider developing manuscripts and linking them out to my world, I starting to play with this and was thinking it could use some love. It could be as simple as adding a second text box with the chapter/section title that could be targeted on its own with CSS, though something that allowed individual pictures for different chapters/sections would be even better.

Great suggestion! I agree with it being a lot harder to spot the chapter link - I didn't even realize the "Prologue in Renegade" text was the link above until I hovered my mouse over it. Definitely something that should be improved upon.

I am all in favor of more manuscript love. I'd love more reasons to switch to manuscripts from prose articles.

Manuscript links really can use some TLC. The only way to "link" a manuscript as a whole is with the image option. There isn't a text link. And yes individual chapters should have both image and textual link too. I look forward to the day that manuscripts get more developer attention again.
