COMMUNITY: Filter notifications by world/author

notification-modal
When you're active in this community, the notifications can quickly add up. When you have multiple active worlds, or follow a lot of worlds, and the notifications gotten into double or triple digits, I've found it really useful to go one world at a time to reduce time switching between different contexts.   It's easy to be overwhelmed by a whole bunch of cool articles during events like summer camp and worldember. When I have a lot of new notifications, I like to go one world at a time, so that I can really immerse myself in that world for a while. On the old notification page, I would use ctrl + f to go one author at a time, but since the modal only loads a few notifications at a time, that doesn't work very well anymore. If I could use the filters to bring up notifications from a specific world or author, it would make that process easier.   It would also be useful for managing my own worlds. Like, say, my resource world: world of worlds, I could quickly check that everyone submitted correctly, and then delete that batch of comments.   I think this feature upgrade would make notifications easier and more pleasant to process, and would reduce the amount of people who get overwhelmed and hit "delete all".

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! We'll add this to the list, although we're currently prioritizing other aspects of the site. But we think it's a good idea, so at some point we'll add a way to either filter or group notifications based on more specific parameters like user.

I was literally going to enter this as a feature request.   Like the OP, when I have a lot of reading to do (like every August with the onslaught of Summer Camp articles), I *much* prefer to load up a bunch of articles by a single author to read through at once, as this (usually) means I'm keeping track of one fictional world's set of ideas, unique jargon and names, and so on. Makes for a greatly improved reading experience, as I can reasonably fit different elements together to form a more coherent understanding of the whole setting.   (At least sometimes, some bodies of work are so vast that a coherent understanding of the whole setting is the result of several weeks of intensive study, not one sitting of reading recently released articles)

One of the reasons I haven't subscribed to many other worlds is a fear of notification overload. I do like to pay some attention to the ones I get before I delete them so if I subscribed to more feeds I know I'd potentially find the notifications increasingly difficult to review. Something like this would encourage me to subscribe and engage more with other creators by making the reading process more logical.

3497 notifications. I would filter them any way I can if it helps me attempt to get through them. I'm all for this!

I end up clicking the "get more" button a bunch and still using the ctrl+f method, but it's cumbersome. A way to filter or sort by author would be great, and by world would be even better.
