Even if it ment dumping all the info of the original article in the vignette, it would be very helpfull already! I would really really like if it could maintain the links to the article.
YAAAAAASSSSS! This is at the top of my list. I've used the incorrect template several times for an article and moving the info to a new template also meant finding everywhere that the article had been referenced and updating them all with the new reference code while hoping I hadn't missed any.
I would absolutely adore this feature. I've messed up so many times and had to start all over...
You definately have my VOTE on this as recently i've had to delete about 25 articles i originally used the incorrect Template for, which loses views, comments and likes. Beginning from scratch SUCKS!!!! Ethnicity and Organizations are My Bugbears
This problem was my immediate thought when I saw this voting system. I'm still pretty new to WA, so I'm often taking a shot in the dark when I'm choosing my templates because I don't really know what each one gives me.
I love this idea! Also, it would be helpful if there's a "WARNING" pop-up that reminds people to check all of the fields below the vignette are emptied / moved to the vignette before the switch between articles is 100% confirmed. That way people can be sure they won't lose any of their work.
Another vote for the Vignette dump for template-specific sections. More than a few times in the early days of WA I've had an article done in one template, and then a new template was added that fit SO MUCH BETTER but it was too much hassle to transfer it over.
Haha i needed it yesterday ^^
even scraping the entire text of the page and dropping it into the vignette would be amazing.
I love this suggestion for the reason that i have sometimes thought that a Orgnaization article best fit something when it should have been a totally different article like ethnicity etc.
I think this is a fantastic feature be useful. I think the only challenge will be information the specific prompt boxes that is not common to the template switching to. So some type of warning that says.
WARNING
Specifically information that is not part of the vignette will be lost when switching to the new article template. Are you absolutely sure you have copied that information somewhere for reference, before you push the button. And it may break connections that it would have been related to based on the article type.
Just voting to help out. I've certainly never done this exact thing before, nope.
YES, ALL THE YES
I an advocate of the "dump into vignette" method. This allows us to maintain likes and comments, ideally, if shifting the data is possible at all.
As the Master of Games, I can get behind this. Also I like Timepool. Dumping into the vignette sounds good to me.
With worlds as big as mine, and you try and stay focused on your daily goals of building, THIS ONE ISSUE can not only take the wind out of your sails, ...it can potentially cause you to walk away from building for a while.I WANT THIS SO BADLY I CAN TASTE IT!!! (Thank you for suggesting, Timepool!!!)--I'd give ALL my coins if allowed.
