I have both a Civil Ear and a Rebellion in the history of a faction in my setting. Both are critical to the history and development of that faction into who they are today, and I would love to be able to use the drop down to denote the type of conflict.

this is a simple but great idea! I'd say that "civil war" is a sort of subset of war that would be cool to have ... but to OP's original point, a "rebellion" is VERY different than a war ... some rebellions never get violent at all, or entirely consist of terrorist actions or acts of civil disobedience ... I think this is actually a really really good distinction to make.
