What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
The current list of document types includes, "Guide, Generic", "Manual, Scientific", and "Study, Scientific", but there isn't a good encompassing label for a primary or secondary school style textbook or other standardized instructional material. A textbook could teach you how to do something as in the case of a math textbook, but it can also teach about a particular topic. It can act as a reference guide similar to a Bird Guide, but it's not necessarily a core focus. Textbooks present data and theories often with interactive components which wouldn't be present in other forms of scientific literature.How does this feature request address the current situation?
The current options which may be applicable to specific subjects don't clearly convey the genre of textbook specifically. It would be helpful to have a single option that shows that a Physics textbook, Algebra textbook, Music Theory textbook, Literature textbook, or Python textbook could all be related. Textbook would also cover primers and other introductory level texts. Using the word textbook specifically, it is also possible to convey that a particular text is designed for educational settings, has some degree of authority and standardization, and contains instructional material about a subject that is meant to be comprehensive and interactive.
