Notify everyone in a subscriber group that an article only they can see has been updated

subscribers notifications

I have a lot of private articles that people have paid to have access to (example: classes). When I update those, I'd like to let these people know that they have been updated. I didn't realize, but when I was sending out notifications, they were going to all followers of the world - even if they hadn't bought into a certain group. This was causing people frustration when they wanted to get in and couldn't.

What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

When I post an update that a private article has been updated, it goes out to people who don't have access to it and this is frustrating to them.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

This would make it so that in the notification area, I could choose to notify only a certain subscriber group or groups.

What are other uses for this feature request?

I could see this being used to notify players, or people who had chosen a certain role in a world setting as well.

I am hoping that I haven't missed this somewhere in the old suggestions and current features. I asked over in the Sages and was asked to write this up... and so - here it is!

Yay! Thank you!

The Team's Response

Thanks for the suggestion! We're accepting this for the future.   In the meantime, you can use custom access denied pages, as well as the notification message field, to inform readers that it's a subscriber-only article.

I have a PC with mechanics that I want to keep secret from the party and obscure from him, and this would make that a lot easier.

That'd be amazing! I'm implementing subscriber groups in Tarantellia's next phase. Knowing I could focus my notifications would definitely ease my nerves on pushing notifications to people.

I haven't got any subscribers but I know this would be frustrating. At least they should have some kind of preview tag on them informing readers that the article is for subscribers only. Would be more helpful if that fact is indicated somehow through the inbox on the notification itself. Thanks for suggesting! God bless.

THIS IS AMAZING!!! IT MAKES MY BRAIN HAPPY! For real though, this is well thought out and deserves to be implemented.

I definitely have a use for this. Currently I just don't notify for subscriber only content, but then they don't know about it either unless they check my Discord..

This would be really helpful and likely convince me to use subscriber only articles instead of containers (so the whole page isn't hidden).

This is the biggest reason I've been reluctant to create subscriber-specific articles. A 'notify subscriber group(s)' button would be amazing.
