Skerrin Wavechaser

(a.k.a. Brother Salt)

Skerrin was Anders Solmor’s Butler, and also served as the scribe for the Saltmarsh town council. He handles almost all paperwork of any importance for his master. He also always seemed to know what was going on around town.
Skerrin was secretly “Brother Salt”, a high ranking member of the Scarlet Brotherhood and one of a very select few to know the true identity of their leader Titivillus. He murdered Gellen the night before his execution to silence him and framed it as a suicide. Skerrin used his status as a trusted butler to facilitate business on the half of the brotherhood using Anders’ trading company as a cover. When Anders begun to notice some discrepancies in the books, he recruited The High Seas Ass Kickers to investigate a previously missing company ship (Wave of the Emperor), which had recently been sighted off the coast of Seaton. Anders was particularly interested in recovering a magically sealed box that was left aboard, which he believed might contain information about his own parents' murders and some explanation to the shady dealings he had come to believe were occurring without his knowledge. Skerrin will tried to dissuade the adventurer from returning the box, saying he wanted to spare Anders the pain of learning what kinds of business his deceased parents might have been involved in. In reality, he was only trying to cover his own secret identify. When he was first beginning to work undercover, he made some mistakes in signing some documents using the wrong aliases, and these documents were in the box. Of particular concern was the fact that the letter he had written to arrange the death of Anders' parents was indeed in the box. Subsequently, Skerrin arranged for the ship to be shipwrecked to cover himself. The adventurers ended up successfully retrieving the box and decided to return it to Anders. hearing this, Skerrin murdered Anders while the party was still away and disappeared, retreating to The Lonely Keep.
The Ass Kickers were able to resurrect Anders, however, and upon reviewing the sealed box they confirmed Skerrin's true identity. They determined that he had fled to a nearby island and successfully infilitrated The Lonely Keep, eventually confronting Skerrin, who was accompanied by Lord Scarlet (Titivilus) himself. Skerrin escaped with his master, who teleported him to his fortress in Dis and turned him into a devil himself.
Eventually, the party defeated Skerrin in their final controntation with Titivilus. Because he died in the Nine Hells, his death, like his master's, was permanent.
