Zor
A World from Many Realms
916 SA
Welcome to Zor, a majestic world of oceans and interplanar shenanigans. It is a magical realm where the lore of many legendary places across the Material Plane collide and interact with a history that is all its own.
Seven Truths about Zor
1. Zor is an ocean world. Even people who live inland are deeply connected to the sea, and Zorian cosmology is influenced by understanding the universe as a great cosmic ocean.
2. The multiverse is ever present. While most people have never visited another plane of existence, they are likely to know someone who has. There are many rifts leading to other planes throughout Zor, and its history has been strongly influenced by this fact.
3. Zor is a world remade from other worlds. Almost 1000 years ago, Zor was nearly broken apart when an evil god was banished and sealed away in its core. The other major gods used mirror versions of other physical realms to fix the damage. As a result, it is not uncommon to find entire regions that are similar to other worlds you may be familiar with.
4. Zor is nearing an industrial revolution, but technology varies greatly between different regions. While some nations may have early airships and are beginning to utilize gunpowder, others are still firmly rooted in a late medieval era.
5. Zor has, until recently, been a predominantly low magic world as the result of its remaking. Over the last century or so, however, magical activity has accelerated at a rapid pace, bringing both great advances along with increased threats from other planes.
6. Most of the world is known, but there are some areas that are rarely travelled due to unnaturally long-lived storms in the open ocean that have only recently begun to dissipate. Even those who travel to these Lands Beyond and return find themselves unable to recall details about their journey.
7. While darkness is always brewing in the form of conflicts, incursions from other planes, and other major threats to life, there is something whimsical about day to day life in Zor. Weird goings-on are often taken with equal parts worry and amusement at their absurdity.
