Bara-Kizzire
While the humans and other races on the surface of the Veruun Peninsula suffer in either the slums of the The Crested Coast or the haunted Forests of Nevae, the dwarves under the ground fair far better. In fact, due to the rich veins of mithral found in the Veruun underdark, Veruunian Dwarves are among the richest and most glamorous in Zor. Bara-Kizzire is essentially one large gambling den with the glamour and glitz to rival any throne room in the Material Plane. Here, dwarves and visitors to the dwarfhold play games all day and all night - cards, dice, mine cart races, mechanical dragon fights and elaborate steam-powered slot machines are all available for anyone with the gold to spend. And because the ancient dwarves of Zor hold hospitality as one of their society’s loftiest ideals, payouts in Bara-Kizzire are much higher than other gambling establishments across the realm.
Dwarves aren’t the only denizens of Bara-Kizzire. The vast dwarf hold is frequently visited by beings of all shapes and sizes and from all planes of existence, all of whom looking to test their luck. To keep the peace, the dwarves have engineered great war machines capable of going toe to toe with the mightiest beasts and fiends of the realm. This massive, casino-esque subterranean realm is governed by a council of Dwarven barons made up of the richest and ritziest of the clans in Zor. The Kizzire dwarves do still believe in fostering the younger races of the realms but figure they’ve earned the right to make a little coin in the process. In their eyes, they are providing fun and merriment for a region shrouded in darkness and misery. Many dwarf holds and clans across Zor do not share this sentiment.
