Cult of Alios
The Cult of Alios is a very large and powerful religion based in the territory of the Kingdom of Sildra-Tor. They concern themselves with the main worship of the god Alios and stride to exemplify his ideals of battle, war and honor. The religion itself is focused on the glory of battle and most of its tenets have to do with earning as much glory for one self as possible through battle and death.
Divine Origins
The cult of Alios has sprung forward into prominence along with the rising power of the Kingdom of Sildra-Tor on the islands of Sildra and Tor. When the new kingdom came into being the new king came with a new radical set of beliefs that spread throughout his new territory like wildfire. It has grown into a very powerful organization with it having immense political power within the Kingdom of Sildra-Tor.
Cosmological Views
The Cult accepts the general belief that the god Tarsen and his wife the goddess Alari created the world and its gods including their god Alios. They have come to reject the divine authority of Tarsen and Alari, instead choosing to believe that Alios has come to surpass his creators and is the ultimate divine authority. They believe that his values and domains serve them best to exemplify.
Priesthood
The Cult is broken into Priests, Patriarchs, and finally the High Patriarch. Priests typically only preside over a single church, typically a smaller church rather than one in a big city. Priests garments tend to be simpler in design with a red and gold tunic being most common. Sometimes their garments can be outfitted with their religious symbol but it is not too common. Patriachs tend to preside over a larger church especially those in a city or over a group of smaller churches each led by a priest. They tend to be clothed in more ornate tunics and robes all colored deep reds and golds with filigree of actual gold lining the robes. The High Patriarch is a singular role presiding over the entire religion. They dwell in the kingdoms capital city, Lodern and instruct their disciples on their religious principles. They also advise the king on matters of religion and spirituality. Additionally, the High Patriarch is the only one who can call a religious crusade against either another nation or a group of peoples. When presiding over religious ceremonies they dress in the most ornate garb there is to be had. Fanciful and expensive tunics and robes, large and ornate talismans and jewelry ordaining their body. They are dressed nearly as well as the king himself and some say even more so.
Political Influence & Intrigue
The Cult is an extremely powerful organization wielding immense political power and physical power. They lord over a nation that treats them with out right reverence by and large. They essentially run large parts of the nation independently of the king and crown, and some say they are the ones with the real power in the nation and that the king is more of a puppet serving the Cults interests. They have their own private military called the Wardens of Alios which they use to increase their own power and exert their influence over the world around them. They also use them as a sort of pseudo police force to enforce their way onto the peoples which they rule over.
