Amber Material in Yeia | World Anvil

Amber

Amber was one of the most important resources during the Bronze Age and the early Iron Age in Yeia. It was one of the first resources that was widely trade not only across regions but also across continents. Ships transporting amber across the Interior Sea are recorded as early as the year 2800 BP where some old wooden tablets from the Kingdom of the Green elves recorded the selling of a necklace made of little amber beads to a wealthy noble.   Snow elf sources also documented that Kallian merchants bought amber stones to merchants from the continent of Karia and then sold them in the Snow elf trade posts.

Origins and distribution

In northern Karia (as well in some territories in Southern Teria and the territories composed today by the kingdoms of Brire and Stormitia), amber is formed from the resin of coniferous trees from millions of Years ago. The Elves and the Davidovian peoples used to call them stones from the beginning of time, because they think they were formed by the first trees created by the goddess of nature, Tyr.

The Amber Route

The Amber route is a millennia old land and sea route that cross the Northern Sea shore of the Continent of Karia from north to South and then cross the Interior Sea with the end of the sea route being the city of Blati. The inland route began in the city of Alamar, the capital of the long gone Republic of Tamaz Nashur, one of the wealthiest states in Yeia's history and the first attested merchant republic who monopolized trade across the Northern Sea until the 3rd century AP) and continued to the South crossing modern Nythia and Adhel. It is in the latter were the main route divided itself in two routes. One continued to the South, reaching the Varekak river and later reaching Lashel and its capital, Cloud, from where the Amber route continued south again reaching the Seris Empire.   The other route went East alongside the Varekak river into the lands of the Desert peoples, then the route entered in Unhelion and reached Ymhilean from which the route turned South into Nomad territory to finally end in the Southern Provinces of the Seris Empire.

Importance

Amber was highly demanded by the aristocracy of many realms during the Bronze Age. It was a sign of economic wealth and power. Not many people could afford materials as Amber from such a long distance. Many nobles liked to display necklaces or rings with incrusted amber stones. Some of them with insects like flies inside it. Also, amber was also quite important and highly demanded because the orbs of the first magical sceptres were made of amber.

Much appreciate your use of space. It makes reading so much nicer. Like the greens of the presentation, too. They fit well with the written content.
