The Laws of Xahverse
As far as reasonably practical, XahVerse uses the same physics and natural laws as the 'real' world. There are, however, two categories of technology and science that go beyond this:
Unobtanium - things that don't break the laws of physics, but are beyond current understand on how to make. Examples include Xahian Power Armour, PJ Drive and the genetic engineering behind the caste system.
Handwavium - things that break the laws of physics, but in ways that seem plausible. An example is the FourDrive FtL technology
Cosmology

Principal Geography & Features
Known Space is part of the Milky Way galaxy, approximately 1000 light years in diameter and containing about 28 million stars. Expansion of humanity into this space took place over the course of several thousand years and humanity was almost entirely wiped out by the destructive Amnesiac Virus. Since the Rise of the Federation of Xah, most of the focus has been on regaining contact with human colonised star systems, not new colonisation.
Initial Active Setting
The 'active setting' depends entirely on the scope of the story being told. For the most part, it will be restricted to one or two star systems, however the entirety of Known Space is the backdrop.
