Welcome

Jack the farmer

Greetings, adventurer! My name is Jack. Just Jack. I see ye have chosen the path of a humble commoner, much like meself. Allow me to guide ye through our world. Mind ye, I’m a bit long in the tooth, so I won’t be accompanying ye in the flesh. Instead, I’ll set ye a few tasks that might ease my burdens—and, through them, ye may learn about Thalas a thing or two as well. Here is something to read for ye! It should not take much time.

A Humble Introduction
Thalas is the name of our planet. The current year is 537 of the Third Age, also known as Age of Inventions. You may wonder—why the Third Age? Well, our time is measured from the period known as the Cataclysm—a time of chaos, ruin, and devastation. A battle between dragons and gods, they say, one that nearly destroyed everything. But don’t ask me for the finer details; no one alive today remembers it. From what I’ve heard, it was a dreadful event.
Though the legends of the Cataclysm are fascinating, they’re long and tangled in the dusty scrolls of old archives. Let’s not weigh you down with endless tales right at the begining of our journey. Instead, we’ll begin with something more pleasant for the eye—and easier to grasp.
As I mentioned, our world is called Thalas. Of it, we know three great continents, all carefully mapped. Some fools claim the world might be larger, but I’ve no reason to believe such nonsense.

The smallest continent is Arhnos, the Land of the Dwarves. A frigid northern plain, rugged and sturdy, much like the folk who call it home.
The second is Eladria, a land shrouded in mystery for folk like me. I’ve only heard that dragons dwell there in great numbers and that the orcs hail from those lands. It’s far from here, and I’ve never had cause to think much of it.
And then there’s Syndaras, where we are now—the largest of all continents. This is my home, and it is Syndaras I’ll tell you about, for it is the land I know best. So, shall we begin our journey here, on the soil of Syndaras? There’s much to share about its lands, its people, and its wonders. Follow me, and I’ll show you what I can!

Enough Talk! You’ll learn more from the map I’ll hand over to you shortly. It will show you the lands, mountains, rivers, and towns as we know them. But before you dive into exploring the world, you should first understand the Path of the Commoner—what it is and how it will help you.

Path of the Commoner

The Path of the Commoner is a guide—a way for you to learn about the world of Thalas, one step at a time. It’s designed to take you through these articles in a way that helps you build a clear picture of the land, its people, and its history. Think of it as a thread that connects every story, every legend, and every fact, forming a tapestry of the world.
Through my eyes, you’ll see Thalas not as a hero or a mighty mage, but as an ordinary soul living in extraordinary times. I’m no warrior with a gleaming blade, nor a wizard with ancient tomes. I’m simply someone who has walked the roads, worked the fields, and heard the tales whispered by firelight.
Each article in the Path of the Commoner will show you a piece of the puzzle—whether it’s the life of a farmer, the mysteries of a forest, or the fears of a village on the edge of the unknown. These glimpses will gradually give you an understanding of Thalas as a living, breathing world.
So, are you ready to take the first steps on the Path of the Commoner? It may seem humble, but every great journey begins somewhere, and this is your beginning. Together, we’ll uncover the wonders of Thalas, one story at a time.

How to follow this path?
Following the Path of the Commoner is simple and intuitive. Each article in this journey is linked to the next and the previous, ensuring a seamless flow as you explore the world of Thalas. At the bottom of each page, you’ll find links marked as Path of the Commoner, guiding you forward to the next article or back to the previous one. This allows you to navigate the world at your own pace, uncovering its stories step by step as if walking alongside a commoner who shares their perspective.

"Go on, then! Scroll down to the bottom, and ye’ll see the path plain as day. Follow it, and I’ll be there to guide ye every step o’ the way."

Follow the path!
Here, at the bottom of this page, you’ll find links to the next and previous articles, marked as Path of the Commoner. These will guide you forward to continue your journey or back to revisit what you’ve already discovered.

I love the concept of a path. It’s easy to follow and the farmer is fun and easygoing. I think I will create a similar concept in my world. It’s a great way to guide a reader. Well done!
