History
Of all of the children that Marian helped to raise, her relationship with Nora was most difficult. Nora knew that neither Dianthe nor Marian were her mother; and she resented what she saw as her birth-mothers exclusion from the family, since even Leara took interest in the children in a way Leisl did not. She would realize later that her parents were all allowing her to blame them, and it was really her mother who was never interested; but there would always be tension between her at Marian.
