Arc "Herchveld" Armor V1

The later years of the Abyssal Campaign were some of the darkest days that the empire had ever suffered through. Their technical advancements and trainings in magic had given those in command of the powerhouse a sense of superiority, of invincibility. This was hubris, nothing more.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

Form...

The creation of the first armor set was one of basics and generous simplicity. The armor itself needed to be a fully contained piece with bits of chain mail interwoven in the gaps. Each piece needed to have a higher percentage of Kasanakuki than general metal, allowing for it to be more receptive to the integration of the magic engine that would power the suit as a whole. The first model was simple and made for anyone to wear.

...over function.

The intention of creating armor capable of boosting the average soldier to the strength, speed, magical prowess, and reflexes of a Hero was not dumb. In fact, generations of Arcanists had tried to determine what exactly made a "Hero" so different than a natural, average being. However, making armor that was capable of achieving all those tasks while also being relatively slim was an incredible challenge. Unfortunately, the first model found no solutions to a lot of those problems, and instead allowed for them to be accounted for in preplanning sessions and on usage.

The Dragon-Core

During the early phases of testing the armor in the field, it was discovered that the "power" required to make the suit operational was still far above what the average individual could perform. Heroes operated on a scale that was far beyond the average person, regardless of the similarities in their casting. The solution was simple, find a way to harness energy and use that to power the suit. The Banalia Engine was already in use in some small circles, as well as some versions of steam engines that were compressed and using ARC-Gewel pieces. Bi'dan took the concept of larger engine and tried to shrink it down to size that was comparable to a soldiers backpack. The resulting device became known as "The Dragon-Core" for its general power and to keep spies guessing as to its purpose.

Customization & Adaptability

The concept of a "One-size-fits-all" armor is nice on the parchment on which its printed, however the reality is that certain situations call for different tactics, while others require more of a headstrong approach. The V1 armor was no exception, as Duke Herchveld was very fond of sending out teams of armored soldiers to assist in conflicts not going the way of his primary forces.
The Core pack that operates the primary functions of the armor also houses a large Arc Gewel with which the "driver" is attuned to. This process is not certain to work as it seems some Gewels have a sense of distaste for specific traits that can be determined through the process. Aside from the primary Gewel, which must be regularly checked on and maintained, there exist several open slots for additional options to be slotted in. The most common is the shielding Gewel or the Cleric Gewel, which offers a moderate amount of protection from all incoming forces and helps to heal the wounds of damage respectively. Later generations of the armor would require Physical aspect Gewels and Shielding Gewels as standard issue.

For DnD stats
In relation to DnD 5e, the armor grants the user and AC 19+Dex, 75 Temporary Hp that regens at each short rest, Increases Str & Con to 18+Modifiers, and speed up to 75ft.

History

When the walls of Belzer crumbled and the screams of Jasperlot fell silent, it was clear to those invested that it would take more than their optimism in the face of the impossible. For all their magic, all their praying, all their technical know how, nothing stopped the creatures of the Abyss. Ethereal beings born of a darkness not seen since the age of the Goddess of Death.
It was in these later years that an Arcanist, Bi'dan Do'su of Panwe , lost their child in a conflict that engulfed several cities. His son had joined the Military command structure young, and had moved his way up the ranks quickly thanks to his quick wit and strategic mind. Bi'dan regularly spoke of his pride in the boy. He would have 18 a week after his death.
Bi'dan was shattered, his wife had died during childbirth and his son had been the only piece of the woman left, and now he was gone too. He broke and drove himself inward, regressing from society and wasting the generous funds that he'd earned over the many years. Until one day, drunk and praying for death, an idea came to him. This idea would drive Bi'dan for the next twenty years, and would eventually lead him into the path of Ne'pan Herchveld , Duke over a large swath of land and a dedicated study to the affairs of demons. Ne'pan had served in his youth, fighting against the creatures of the Abyssal Dragon and later alongside the Heroes in the final charge.

Significance

It's different now. I know it is. We're not just tin suits against gods anymore, now we have an even field to fight upon. In that thing... well, you become different. Faster to move, to react. I swear I've never felt anything like it, but I hope to feel that again soon. Consider a fireteam of men in these things. I keep calling them things because, well, its just not armor. I don't care what they say, it just isn't. It's like it talks to you, speaks with you, becomes part of you. - Imperial Sergeant after testing the V1 battle armor in the field.
