Maleon Valbard is an intense younger man with a piercing gaze and intense demeanor. Somehwat average in height and weight, his bright blue eyes captivate those he speaks with. He speaks of a larger, more important Hillsboro as if it’s a fact not yet come to light. His drive is infectious, and he can enthrall a crowd just talking about his plans for the future.
The only time he falters and slips is when he's with Reynulf, his lover and partner. While Reynulf doesn't see it, others note that Maleon gets tongue-tied and even clumsy at times when Reynulf is around.

Personal history

Ten years ago, Maleon brought together a group of like-minded adventurers to scour the Brineven countryside and "free their country from the hold of lawlessness". The Brineven Badgers, as they became known, largely operated out of the village of Hillsboro, the home of his friend and lover Reynulf. Together with the fighter Odver, the Priestess of the Sun Fane Varona, and the alfar rogue who called herself Mederei, they became largely responsible for a reduction in brigandage and humanoid raiding in the Korlon Hills.
All of that earned them the enmity of a rageborn brigand lord named Smigal Redhand. Four years ago, Smigal and her band of men gathered a huge force of bandits and prepared a trap for the Badgers. Unfortunately the trap backfired and Badgers ended up slaying much of this huge force and routing the rest, including Smigal.
For their heroics, Maleon was made Mayor of Hillsboro, while Reynulf was awarded the position of sheriff of the Korlon Hills. Varona, also from Hillsboro, was given leave to build a Sun Fane Temple in Hillsboro and named Canon - a title rarely bestowed on women in the church. Mederei and Odvar passed by any titles or appointments, settling down in the community now run by their friends.
Odvar left Hillsboro a few years ago, and Canoness Varona and Mederei left soon after, with Varona turning the Temple over to a Calastani raised cleric named Talisen. Maleon and Reynulf have since begun construction of a proper castle to defend the village.
