The Black Church
At a Glance
A large black Byzantine church trimmed with pure gold the Church gives off an awe inspiring aura at night especially on a full moon. The iconography looks eastern Orthodox but the symbols seem off. This is no ordinary church it is the home of a secretive death cult run by the First Mate. This is not only the sanctuary for a doomsday death cult, it is also the bridge of an immense vessel designed to sail the seas of Oblivion.
Closer Inspection
The Black Church is literally the heart of Old Town. The vast majority of the Old Town population are members of the First Mate's Doomsday cult. They hold midnight mass every Sunday, to outsiders or visitors the cult just seems like an intense Greek Orthodox church but people with religious education will spot many inconsistencies in the mass.
Inside
There are three levels to the church. The first 2 floors are open to the crew and revenants, but the third floor is restricted and should not be entered without permission.
Inside the first floor you find ebony pews with pure gold trim bisected by a black and white cobblestone path leading to the altar behind the pulpit. All the ornaments, candelabras, and guardrails are made out of bleached bones and gold. mosaics
New Renovations
With the death of Charon Lord Hades decided it would wise to absorb the remains of Charon's barge into the Black Church. This has created noticable changes to the nature of the Black Church and the liminal spaces within.
"Do not let your eyes linger on the inhuman shadows those fiends cannot stand before your gaze. Just stay focused on where you need to be and the cobblestones will guide you."

Shadows That Walk
There are several shadows walking thru the church with a will of their own. If confronted the shadows will scream and flee.The Church fills with a ghostly congregation every 6 hours. They file in wearing their best attire and sit for the service like they did in life but now that the ship has bonded with Charon's barge new "things" have joined the congregation.
"Don't worry about those fellas, they'll learn how to fit in soon enough. Remember practice makes perfect"
