The Spiral Pit
The Spiral pit is actually a piece of the mad Wyrm stolen away and built into The Black Church.
Spiraling In
There's a staircase chiseled into the rim of the spiral pit leading to the "neck" of the hour glass. Calling these steps a staircase is a undeserved kindness, these "steps" are made of the desperate clawing corpses' of all kinds frozen in an ethereal purple resin. The corpses look like they have been frozen in a current or riptide dragging them to the center of the "neck" and down to the Alchemist's Prison.The Neck
When you reach the middle of this hourglass there is thin rippling water like barrier separating the 2 halves of the pit. When you touch or walk through this barrier you are filled with an almost human sense of dread.Spiraling Out
The only noticeable difference between this staircase and the one above is that there are definitely more inhuman corpses trapped in the spiral.The Base
At the bottom of the hourglass the resin forms an even solid floor, but not for any of the bodies being dragged down the spiral staircase. They continue falling deep into the resin. In and out, in and out, until they disappear.
