Renaer Neverember

Renaer Neverember is noble-born yet defined by his humility, integrity, and sharp wit. His appearance reflects his dual life as both aristocrat and dissident—piercing blue eyes, tousled golden-red hair, a neatly trimmed beard, and practical yet refined clothing that marks him as a man who moves easily through both back alleys and ballrooms. Though he has no formal adventuring class, his survival instincts and street smarts give him the air of a rogue, shaped more by experience than training. Renaer is known for his kindness, resourcefulness, and unshakable sense of justice. He has rejected the legacy of his disgraced father, Dagult Neverember, and strives to redeem the family name through quiet, persistent acts of good. As a Harper agent and close friend of the party, he is one of their oldest and most trusted allies.

History

Rescue in the Sewers

Renaer's relationship with the party began when they inadvertently rescued him during their search for Floon Blaagmar, whom they were attempting to locate on behalf of Volothamp Geddarm. Captured by Zhentarim agents in a case of mistaken identity, Renaer had been imprisoned alongside Floon beneath the streets of Waterdeep. His rescue marked the first moment of camaraderie between him and the party, a bond that quickly grew into mutual respect and lasting trust.

Silent Partner of the Frightened Ferret

When the party took ownership of the rundown Trollskull Manor, Renaer quietly stepped in to fund its renovation and licensing. His investment made possible the transformation of the manor into the Frightened Ferret, a community tavern and base of operations for the adventurers. True to his word as a silent partner, Renaer claimed no control over the establishment, took no profits, and asked only for occasional favors in return—errands for himself or unnamed contacts, always with the goal of protecting Waterdeep. Though he had intended to remain anonymous in the venture, Kostas Rell chose to publicly acknowledge Renaer’s role during the Ferret’s grand opening, a gesture that Renaer accepted with quiet gratitude.

The Gralhund Gala and the Black Viper

Most recently, Renaer has worked with The Harpers to orchestrate a trap for the elusive thief known as the Black Viper. The Viper unwittingly stole an artifact containing sensitive Harper intelligence, and the upcoming Gralhund gala presents a rare opportunity to recover it. Renaer has enlisted the party’s help in navigating the high-society event, relying on their unique skillsets to blend in among Waterdeep’s elite and help expose the Viper. Though the operation carries significant risk, Renaer believes the party is the key to pulling it off without sparking a broader scandal.
