Floon Blagmaar is a well-known figure in
Waterdeep’s social undercurrent, where charm and beauty can earn coin just as easily as a noble name. With tousled ginger-blond hair, aristocratic features, and an easy smile, Floon is frequently mistaken for his longtime friend
Renaer Neverember—a resemblance that nearly cost him his life. Despite his good looks and access to elite parties, Floon is not of noble birth. He supports himself, in part as an escort, attending galas, dinners, and private events in the company of the city’s wealthy and powerful.
His affable nature and polished demeanor conceal a survivor’s instinct. Floon knows how to read a room, win favor, and disappear when danger arises. Though he has no formal adventuring skill, his connection to Renaer and his unexpected involvement in the party’s earliest adventure make him a recurring figure in the backdrop of their rise.
History
The Sewers and the Rescue
Floon’s kidnapping set off the chain of events that led to the party’s formation. Mistaken for Renaer Neverember due to their similar appearance, Floon was abducted by
Zhentarim agents and dragged into the sewers beneath Waterdeep. He was later handed off to agents of the
Xanathar's Guild, who had hoped to use him as leverage. The party, acting on behalf of
Volothamp Geddarm, tracked Floon down, rescued him, and defeated his captors.
The ordeal left Floon battered but grateful, and he returned quickly to his work and social life. His abduction was quietly dismissed in public circles, but among those who know the truth, it remains a reminder of how dangerous Waterdeep’s underworld has become.
Appearance at the Gralhund Gala
Floon attended the Gralhund Gala as the hired escort of
Rialto Goldleaf, a flamboyant textile merchant known for his cliche hedonistic passions. Floon had not been aware of Renaer's and the party's mission, and so did not expect to run in to his reclusive friend. Though Renaer has long known how Floon makes his living, seeing it firsthand introduced a quiet strain between them. The moment was brief but palpable, a flicker of discomfort quickly masked by practiced smiles.
The Grand Opening of the Frightened Ferret
Floon later attended the grand opening of the
Frightened Ferret. His presence intensified Renaer's unresolved feelings from the gala, and the two avoided each other as much as they could for the duration of the evening.
