Silverbark Species in Wasteland Of Ohm | World Anvil

Silverbark

Very little is actually known about the silverbark. They are a species of tree, with similar dimensions to an oak tree, another species for which our acquisition of its name is unknown. The main difference being very obvious silvery streaks in the cracks of the bark, and the leaves which remain green through all seasons. Its taboo to approach with intention to harm the trees, as those who do have been killed with unknown methods. I've never seen one in person as the distribution of them is sparse at best. We do know they are a natural source of electrical current, as those who have gotten close have been able to pull energy through Electrokinesis from the trees. This electrical current has made these trees of major interest by the various factions.

Basic Information

Anatomy

When I say it has similar dimensions to an oak, I do mean it looks exactly like an oak tree. At least the ones in my local area. However supposedly other version exist that seem based on other species of trees. All sharing the detail of staying green thought the year and having silvery streaks in them.

Biological Cycle

This is where some major questions about the silverbark come to light, it doesn't age or die. The trees that supposedly generated my ancestors are the same trees that dot Minerva's landscape today. They also don't seem to breed or spread like any other trees. What they do in nature is very unclear.

Civilization and Culture

History

The biggest significance of these trees, is their cultural significant to all Awoken, as its widely believed we were created, or at least conjured into reality by them. Our ancestors claimed that we awoke from them, all saying their first memories of being awake were that of rousing underneath the leaves of the silverbark. From there religions and legends have been created about this plant. The ones that come to my mind being The Great Awakening, The One Within The Bark ,and The Way of the Wood to name a few.
