Utlaegr

Their names means 'Exiled' in the old tongue, though the reason has been lost to the sands of time. They have carved out their home in the northern valleys of Jotunheimr, and still retain traces of their tribal heritage. Indeed, tribes frozen in time by the rigors of life still inhabit the holy peaks of Elding, where the Utlaegr trek every year to partake in the cultural test known as the Path. The Utlaegr have been shaped by a history of constant war with the natives of the continent since the very beginning of their colonization, this has led to civilization forged by strife with their neighbours.

Strength and resilience are major reproductive factors, as life is harsh. Therefore, strong jaws, strong features and overall rugged looks are seen as attractive. In light of a new class of people for whom the harshness of life in general is less pronounced, a new standard of beauty has emerged as the complete opposite of the working class standards. This new standard is slowly leaking down to the lower social classes.
