Triumvirate
The highest office in the Utlaegr government is the Triumvirate, whose trio of members rule the nation through their individual spheres of influence.
The Triumvir of Law, Annar Joffur in the old tongue, handles civil matters such as the tribunal and the Sentinels, the Utlaegr policing force.
Ardr Joffur, the Triumvir of Commerce, is tasked with maintaining a healthy economy both national and international.
Pridi Joffur, the Triumvir of War, handles all matters concerning warfare, both in terms of defense and offense.
While they each keep to their own spheres of influence, in some matters they are forced to work together. For example, a standing army must have funding and lodgings, a challenge requiring the cooperation of all three heads of state. In cases where they cannot agree, the majority wins. In theory, the power is evenly spread amongst the Triumvir through interdependent responsibilities, but in practice the Triumvir of Law is usually the last word when decisions are made.
