Vyrvania Settlement in Vyrvania: City of Secrets | World Anvil

Vyrvania (Veer-vane-ee-ah)

Vyrvania is the home of the Vampyr people. This megalopolis is considered to be founded by Garrick Thornwood and his late wife Serafina, but there is no written evidence of this. Being the oldest known Vampyrs it is just assumed that they are the creators of the known world of the Vampyr. The sprawling city is divided into four Quarters (see below). Each Quarter has become known for specific functions i.e. The Eden Quarter is the recreational sector.

THE EDEN QUARTER

This is where the family home and estate of The Thornwood Family is based. Surrounding the estate are wonderful gardens and beautiful parks. This is also the Quarter of culture and creativity. There are museums, art galleries, music halls and many recreational areas including restaurants and leisure complexes.

THE ARCANE QUARTER

Although they are known to be clever Glamorizers and expert at Mind Control, the Vampyr aren't natural magic users but they are extremely fascinated by it. So much so they have a Quarter that is dedicated to magic research. There are many secret and mystical projects that are in progress here. The Thornwoods are not overt benefactors but it is well known that the late Serafina Thornwood had a more than passing interest in magical workings.

THE TECHNO QUARTER

The Techno Quarter is the home of science and technology. Living through so many different eras, Garrick Thornwood, is well aware how important progress and evolution is in the 'game of life'! His son Ed, oversees all the evolutionary research and cutting-edge technology that is paramount to the survival of the Vampyr in the 'age of uncertainty' and constant change.

THE INDUSTRIAL QUARTER

Blood banks need to be maintained and blood-nourishment products need to be made and packaged. Here a large majority of the Vampyr earn there living. Those that are worker level and above are content and live happy and productive existences.

"Those that are worker level and above are content and live happy and productive existences." Does this mean there are people at a lower level who are not content and happy?

Check out Natural Magic : a coming of age fantasy novel, because life is hard enough when you're fourteen, even without saving the world. Or listen to it in podcast form .

Yes...you're right in thinking that. There is a lower level called 'The Underworld' that I plan to expand upon in another Summer Camp article. :)

Having an article that groups all the related articles you've created during summer camp is a very good idea! I'll have to do this for my Athenaeum organization.   This is a really interesting idea. So everyone in this society are Vampires... I'm curious to see how they view 'mortals'. I'll have to read more :D You're doing a good job!

Thank you! I'm quite pleased with how things are expanding throughout the world and hoping WA will help me keep it all together and connected. Yes this is a majority Vampire society, but you'll get to meet other supernatural beings and those that aren't pure-blood or true-blood vampires as I get the articles written! Hope your Summer Camp is going well :)

I like the foreshadowing of the Underworld you have done. Even more so, this distinction into quarters is solid ground work upon which you can build later on, when the city inevitably grows in the worldbuilding sense.

Yours truly, Nino.
