Lucia
"How many vampires do I have to Kill? The Answer is all of them, isn't it?"

Lucia was born in the Empire of Irellith. As an Alluthian with the rare Moon Trace, she has white hair, and used to have aqua colored eyes. Having the moontrace would have gotten her killed in her homeland, but since she was in Irellith and not subject to the Lunar Religion, she was safe from that.

Lucia was born to a family of mages, and quite liked using Ice Magic. Like many young mages on Vreathe, she subjected herself to her own magic attacks, creating patterns of Magic Scars mostly on her body, greatly powering up her ice abilities. Due to the Moontrace, Lucia's ice will glow, especially under the light of the greater moon. In a fight, she normally covers the entire battlefield in frost that slowly grows into larger and larger crystals, making it difficult for her opponents to move freely. Her weapon of choice is a Mace.

When Lucia was about 14, she went to to study under a Master mage named Acutis Sanguinor. A few months into her training, Lucia was infected with the Corruption of Lithane. Acutis performed blood magic on her and attempted to convert Lucia into a vampire. It ended up failing and the only sign she was corrupted with blood magic are her pink eyes. Acutis was curious about how Lucia survived if the conversion failed, so he imprisoned her and started performing painful experiments on her body.

One night, Lucia was able to escape and make it into town. When the authorities went to arrest Acutis, he had already escaped. Lucia spent the next five years training and tracking down Acutis to take her revenge. This lead her to the east, across the Kingdom of Cassel, and then across the sea to the country of Yurrimkil. During this time, she also became a knight of the Order of Leviathan and her expertise with ice magic earned her the title of The Rime Knight.

Lucia found and confronted her former master with the help of Renelle Vernador and several other knights. This uncovered a vampire conspiracy across the country that went all the way to the King. The vampires there were sacrificing large numbers of people and creating a massive Bloodstone. They intended to open a portal and summon Lithane, the first vampire.

While the group was too late to stop the sacrifices, Lucia's corruption was key to stopping the summoning ritual. She was able to use the blood stone, casting a blood spell to instantly cure every single vampire of their curse in the country of Yurrimkil, making it easy to defeat them. And with the aether drained from the bloodstone, Lithane couldn't be summoned. The country and probably the rest of Vreathe was saved that day. Unfortunately there are vampires hidden everywhere on Vreathe, and Lucia makes it a point to hunt them down, usually accepting mercenary contracts involving them over anything else.

    Author's Notes

...Normally when a person is corrupted with blood magic (the corruption of Lithane), their eyes turn black and glow red when casting magic. Lucia's eyes turned pink instead because she has the moontrace. Because the moontrace is quite rare among Alluthians, Lucia is probably the only person on Vreathe with pink colored eyes.   Also, yeah, I know... Acutis Sanguinor? That's as lame as Coach Feratu! I'll fix it whenever I think of a better name for that particular bad guy.

This article is better written - more fluid - than the last one which was much more stilted. It's also short which is great - it's really hard to get people to read all the way to the end of a long article. This one is a good length. I find that readers tend to like my articles better when I put a "voice" in them. That's why we like quotes so much. Lucia's above is great, but Ren's personality doesn't shine through her nearly as much.

You have no idea how much I appreciate this feedback! I like to think my character articles are gradually improving, but it has always been a weak spot with me, and personality is something I definitely need to work on with some of them. So thanks for that!   On article length, I try to write articles of varying lengths because some WA users just like to read a few paragraphs and move on. Others are totally up for reading a 5,000 word article if it is well formatted and properly broken up with quotes and/or images, but ignore shorter articles as if they were 'low effort'. At least that's my experience over the last 5 years.
