Yellow Mountain Wars

The Yellow Mountain Wars was a twenty year military campaign from 1873 to 1893 SE. The conflict was between the Estaria-backed Lor'Kecht Advoch of Narr and the Zeeci confederated tribes of the Gnashi Desert and the Yellow Mountains. It is now remembered as a single historical event, though the truth is more complex. The conflict was not a single war, but a series of military engagements against the at-times-ununified Zeeci civilizations.

Synopsis

The conflict began in 1873 SE two years after the King of the Lor'Kecht, King Ashka signed the Alnuk Accord. On the fifty-third of Sol, Lorvi soldiers of the Lor'Kecht attacked the Zeeci city of Breek, part of the Hannek civilization which had been particularly resistant to the Lor'Kecht's expansion. The Hannek Zeeci were swiftly defeated, owing to the advanced smoothebore muskets the Lor'Kecht military was provided by Estaria, which was rare technology at the time.
The Advoch continued to fight and expand south over the next twenty years under the leadership of General Solomon Kerth. The confederation of Zeeci tribes suffered heavy losses and few victories until Chief Karther surrendered to the Narr flag in 1893 with the signing of the Treaty of the Forge.

Tactics

The Yellow Mountain wars are notable for being the first "modern" military battles in Vildrel. Though firearms had existed for centuries, practical small-arms were a rarity, and early handgonnes were impractically slow and cumbersome.
The Zeeci warriors relied heavily on cavalry and mobile assaults, which Solomon was able to counter with his pike-and-shot formations, mixing polearms with firearms in an advanced military doctrine the Zeeci were slow to adapt to.
