Plooswun Goose Species in Vertinall | World Anvil

Plooswun Goose (Plus-One-Goose)

"By the beast, it's found us-- It's-- We're too late! I'm so sorry!"
— A distraught Guardsman
Alright now before I get any lip out of you, this one is actually serious--

No, no. I get it. This one makes sense

...   Oh.   Well then I guess we just get into it.   Even the most uninformed of persons need little grasp or understandings of the details of this terrific beast to feel an immence sense of dread. Something about it's appearance strikes an inherent.. Fear. Brrr- Even looking at the crappy drawing is giving me the heebies.   But really, why does this.. Thing strike such an instinctive need to run in the opposite direction and screech like a banshee whilst waving your hands about in the air and crying?

Don't worry, it's by design

It was never as simple as just being an eldritch beast not of this world, was it?   Someone just HAD to meddle. To tinker with the mechanics of the universe that no mortal, or god was meant to. This bird (if you can even call it that anymore) has plagued the surface of the world for a very long time. Not Chair levels of old mind you, but at least early into the development of Vertinall, after the Beast arrived. It was apparently a normal type of animal before, as common as they come. Now there is only one. Now it is only them.   But who could devise of such an evil, awful, evil, terrible, monstrous, devilish, evil beast?   Well, funny thing, that! We don't know! Haha! isn't that just dandy? Man, if we knew the being responsible for the creation of this outright calamity upon the world, well-- They would.. Probably be in a lot of really serious trouble! Like.. A lot! I mean it ruffled quite a few feathers up top (I really tried to not do it I promise you), and with it still causing problems to this day, I'm sure if that being was still known to be alive and well right now, they'd really want to give them a good telling off!   Good thing they're probably maybe dead. And not alive.   Did I mention it's evil?
"No doubt whomever or whatever was responsible for the design of that wicked creature is dead, and rotting in the deepest layer of something like hell, but not actually hell because hell does not exist."

Basic Information

Anatomy

The Plooswun appears as a bipedal, bird-like creature, with an elongated neck that allows it far extended reach from it's otherwise unassuming, feather-y body. It has wings made up of individually enchanted feathers, able to cut through even the sturiest of garden fences and general shrubbery.   It's webbed feet indicate that it may very well be able to adhere to any physical surface, though no living being has been able to observe this and survive.   It's bill has been recorded to have had a biting force of 'quite painful indeed', and there has been evidence of bite marks left behind on even some of the hardest materials on Vertinall, like Beast Shards.

Genetics and Reproduction

One can only be thankful that it is the only one of it's kind, or all recorded life may have been wiped out eons ago, and we'd all be swimming around in little ponds feeding on tiny bits of plant and making that kind of adorable little 'bipbipbipbipbipbipbipbip' sound when we do.

Ecology and Habitats

The world is it's habitat, and we are merely living within it.

Behaviour

It does not eat.   It does not sleep.   It does not breathe.   It knows only to destroy.

Additional Information

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

It has been blessed with an incredible range of vision, able to spot exposed picnic foods from up to 300ft away. It has also been known to use it's call to echolocate it's prey.   Though it is not phyiscally observable, there is strong enough evidence to suggest that the Plooswun can actually sense fear.

Creative, hilarious and stupid in all the right ways. The idea that there's some ancient goose who's been messing with the world since long ago is just such a silly idea it really works. Granted I now want to know what dastardly crimes it has committed in its reign of terror throughout the centuries, and which fools dared to fight it.

Your drawing of the goose is killing me with laughter. I love this article so, so much.
