Beast Shard

The Great Beast has loomed over the lands for as long as most can remember, but this was not always the case. Rumors tell that the Beast once came from deep, down below. Scattered across the lands, often underground, you may just come across what is known as a 'Beast shard'; A fragment of the Beast's body that has broken away many moons ago. These shards are sought after for their connections to the Beast, and their phenomenal durability and physical properties.
I use mine as a door wedge!

Properties

Material Characteristics

It's kinda like a big, purple-y toenail, but slightly less disgusting. Normally a bit round on one side and then ends on a point at the other, but they've varied; Some have big cracks on them, scratches, and this one time I found one with a carving of a butt on.
I don't think it had that on there to begin with, thinking about it now.

Physical & Chemical Properties

It's normally pretty cold to touch, like a big stone or something. It's a cracking insulator too, you could lob a load of hot shit at it and wont feel a thing from the other side.
Like a lot.

Compounds

Shards can't really be mixed with anything; Well they can, but it'd be a bit like throwing a bunch of dirt into whatever you were trying to make.
It'd make it suck.
These shards are worth way more in their raw form, so people can use them for things like shields, armor or you know just like a, big... thing? You know what I mean. That one random big thing that you always end up having that you use to prop stuff up, paperweight that kinda thing.

Geology & Geography

These things are all over the shot; but most are found real deep down, in caves and stuff. The ones found further underground are usually a little more beat up and old than those found closer to the surface.
OH- I just remembered something. Geoffrey, the bloke with the gammy leg had one of these things fall through his roof. Scared the crap out of the cats. That one was super smooth, sold for quite a bit.

History & Usage

History

They come up a lot in history, mostly depictions of wars and bar fights. They would have been extremely rare back in the day, so it was probably seen as a status thing as well as a stupidly unfair advantage to have one. Their most commonly seen as a shield since they are pretty tough and good to protect yourself against fire.
Can't say I've ever heard of fire focusing on just the shield before but hey, what do I know.

Discovery

Shards have been showing up for ages now, so I would guess the first people to use them would've been like, cavemen. Probably used it to hit other cavemen, if the current age is anything to go by.

Odor

Purple-ish. Kinda shimmers in the light.

Common State

Solid as a rock, baby! Actually probably a little more Solid. Like solid-er.
