The ruler over the vast Osmad Desert is Sultana Laura Al-Sharaf the Fair. Decendent of the first Al-Sharaf to seat the throne, Laura takes her position with dignity and responsibility. As the Sultana, Laura decides upon the key policies for the city of Bekilk and the other cities in the Osmad Desert. She also manages the state's economy and military, though the region has not been in a state of war for many years.
Recently, the religious group known as the Church of the Sun grew to a size large enough that their power rivaled that of Laura's. In a bold political move that some regard as a controversy, Sultana Laura reluctantly handed over political control to the Church. She was then overthrown by the Church who then established their religion as the one and only in the region, forcing others to convert, flee, or be executed. It is believed that the Church has imprisoned or killed Laura, but the validity of these statements is unknown.

Personal history
Born to be the successor of her father, Laura was raised to be the ruler that she is now. She married Prince Sargon Kalife, the Master General at the time. At the age of 24, Laura became the Sultana after her father's passing. Two years later, she gave birth to Nala, securing the succession to the throne.
Laura was approached by Patriarch Vossen of the Church of the Sun and after the meeting, she handed over political power to the Church who then overthrew her and took control of the region. Many people still loyal to the Sultana believe that this event was a controversy and that the Sultana was blackmailed and forced into making this decision.

The Sultana was indeed influenced by the Church. The Church had been able to infiltrate the palace and convince the guards to betray the Sultana. Through force, Patriarch Vossen and Paladin Israphel captured Nassaire and the Sultana. The patriarch then used magic to charm the Sultana and force her to transfer power to the Patriarch. Nassaire was able to escape custody but the Sultana was unable to and ended up being killed once the Church felt they had sufficient power.
